What a treat. These dramatisations of PD James books are just the ticket for a relaxing afternoon stretched out on the sofa. Great performances from all the cast. High quality production as you expect from the BBC and a final treat to hear from James her self in her own words. A great buy highly recommend!

Story
Kenneth Horne, Kenneth Williams, Betty Marsden and Hugh Paddick star in 15 episodes of the anarchic 1960s radio comedy. Round the Horne arrived on BBC radio in 1965, bringing laughter to Sunday lunchtimes throughout the land. Over the course of 16 weekly episodes it carved a niche in the history of broadcast comedy, a sketch show which prodded the boundaries of propriety and innuendo.

I remember listening to this show when I was a small boy, lying on the hearth rug in front of the fire after Sunday dinner. I laughed then at ideas and concepts I didn’t really understand, now I can’t believe they got away with so much! Betty marsden’s “Many times, many many, times” and kenneth’s Need to be “serviced” leaves you you wide eyed and jaw droppingly shocked...if you want to laugh out load then this series is a must. Brilliant people talented and very very funny.

Story
Find the missing. Fear the found. Three months have passed since the aliens' arrival, but little has changed in the skies. Motherships still hover, impervious to attack and communication. Spherical shuttles ferry about with unclear intentions. But the abductions of select humans have ended, and most of those taken have been returned - dazed, incoherent, and prophesying glory or doom, but home where they belong. Still, nine seemingly unconnected people remain missing.

Would you try another book written by Sean Platt and Johnny B. Truant or narrated by Ray Porter?
No I'm done
What was most disappointing about Sean Platt and Johnny B. Truant ’s story?
Contact is such a poor title, more like, contactless! I wanted to know who these aliens were, why they were here, what were we doing about it, anything that would keep me listening... by the end of the book I had to ask myself why I was still listening
Have you listened to any of Ray Porter’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Only the previous book, and he did a great job
You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Hope...a hope that it would get to the point of the story
Any additional comments?
Change the titles..book one should be "Road trip from chaos" and book two, " Bunker living in the age of unknown aliens".

They are coming. The countdown has begun. First visible only as blips on a telescope image, the discovery of objects approaching from Jupiter's orbit immediately sets humanity on edge. NASA doesn't even bother to deny the alien ships' existence. The popular Astral space app (broadcasting from the far side of the moon and accessible by anyone with Internet) has already shown the populace what is coming.

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?
If you like a road trip story, then I guess this is right up your street
Has Invasion put you off other books in this genre?
No, I even went further to read the next and found that for me I had reached the end of the road. A bunker story was not what I was expecting
What about Ray Porter’s performance did you like?
Does a great job of what I thought was poor material
What character would you cut from Invasion?
All the women characters! They were stereotypes of the worse kind, I found myself loathing their contribution to the story, having said that, I didn't have a single character that I could empathise with, even the primary character was painful.
Any additional comments?
If your into a science fiction story then this will disappoint, book one is a road trip story with no idea of what or who is invading, book two is a bunker story where find out nothing about the aliens, who they are where they are from, what they want. After book two I gave up!

Where does A Mind to Murder rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
P. D. James is a classic writer in this genre. she is up there with Christie and Sayers as my favourites when it comes to crime fiction.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Adam Dalgliesh, he is sensitive, intelligent and direct. His character adds weight to his approach in solving the crime through his self reflection and strong ethical standards.
Have you listened to any of Daniel Weyman’s other performances? How does this one compare?
Daniel has a great voice and narrates the story well, I find it really relaxing to listen to.
