I have really enjoyed the series so far but the last two have become a little too sentimental. The everybody loves, respects and cares deeply for everyone is becoming a little jarring. The story although engaging was contrived and far fetched with the threads conveniently fitting together to fit the available characters. Richard Armitage's performance is usually very good and he has a mastery of accents but this one was a little monotone in emotion.

Did not live up to the lavender keeper

Irritatingly soporific. Annoying one dimensional narration. Pages and pages of nothing. Several threads of a promising story but lost in boring overly descriptive dialogue. Tried twice To listen but bored me rigid.

Couldn’t get past the first chapter... narration is dreadful

No idea whether this book is any good. The soporific tone of the narration makes all the characters sound like simpletons...unbearable...

Loved it, the best Michael Robotham yet

Fast paced, exciting, great characters and storyline. Gripping to the end. As always excellent narration.

The story is poor, long, drawn out and filled with pointless minutia. Paragraphs were used to describe one of the characters snotty phlegm filled cold! The characters were flat and one dimensional, totally unengaging. I picked who ‘done’ it the first time the character was introduced but it took these detectives 50 odd chapters to get anywhere with their enquires. Has to be one of the worst crime thrillers I have ever wasted my time on..

Loved it...

A gripping story and good character development. The only thing that grates is how angry the narrator makes the characters sound even when they are having a normal conversation.

Dull, tedious, boring...

I listened to five torturous hours of this book and gave up. Characters are boring, there is only a vague hint at a story that may or may not unfold. Endless dialogue of tea and cakes and typed transcripts about nothing...Life is too short for this drivel..Shame because I am a huge fan of Kate Atkinson's work but she has missed the mark with this one.

Well written, well narrated. Great story with many twists and turns you didn’t see coming.
