I was born a fighter. Abandoned by my parents, I spent my life forging my own path - one guided by my fists and paved with pain. Untouchable in the ring, I destroyed everyone who faced me, but that's where my victories ended. Outside the ropes, I repeatedly failed the few people who loved me. Including my best friend, Liv James - the one person I'd die to protect. Even though I didn't deserve her, Liv never stopped believing in me. Never gave up. Never let go. After all, she understood what I'd lost, because she'd lost it too.

Although I do usually love Aly Martinez’s books, this one just missed the mark for me. I didn’t really connect with Liv and Quarry as a couple. And their story just dragged on and on and after awhile, it felt like the same issues kept coming up. I couldn’t wait for it to end. This won’t stop me from reading future books by Ms. Martinez tho. This one just didn’t work for me.

I come from a family of fighters. I always thought I'd follow in their shadows, becoming unstoppable in the ring. That changed the day I saved the life of a woman I loved, but could never have. My brother hailed me as a hero, and my reward was a wheelchair. Paralyzed, my life became an inescapable nightmare. Until I met her.

I am bummed that I didn’t enjoy this one as much as FIGHTING SILENCE. I felt that both Flint and Ash acted so immature most of the time, even when they reunited 3 years later. I didn’t get their chemistry as it felt very forced. I will listen to the final book tho as Quarry’s story has me intrigued!

The first time I laid eyes on Lydia Decker, I couldn’t speak. Or breathe. Or string two coherent thoughts together. And I don’t mean any of that figuratively. No, when I first laid eyes on Lydia Decker - my physical therapist - I was lying flat on my back in the ICU, high as a kite on painkillers, breathing on a ventilator, my bones as broken and splintered as my spirit. She said she’d been assigned to fix me. But what I didn’t know...what I couldn’t possibly know...was that Lydia Decker needed fixing far more than I ever did.

5+ “LOVE” Stars!! Lauren Rowe has once again left me with the goofiest love sick smile on my face. HERO was absolutely PERFECT!!!! It ticked all the boxes to make this an incredibly heartbreaking yet uplifting story from the insanely palpable chemistry between Colby and Lydia; the all encompassing love between the Morgans and anyone who came in contact with them; and the emotional turmoil of moving on after a loss. What I loved about this story was that it didn’t have the usual cliques where there is a crazy ex or a contrived obstacle. Colby and Lydia were truthful about their feelings right from the very start, and I loved that together they worked through their feelings and relationship together. And OMG Colby’s relationships with Lydia’s children just made me swooon!! He was THE ULTIMATE HERO; the epitome of what every woman wishes a hero to be!

Lauren Rowe and John Lane were magnificent in this audiobook! Their emotions pour through in their narration. 5 stars!

At 34, I'm reeling from a divorce. I don't want to party or try to move on. I just want to stay home and post a new recipe on my blog: Brynn's Dips and Balls. But my friends aren't having it. Get out there again, they say. It will be fun, they say. I'm still taking a hard pass. Free designer cocktails, they say. And that's a game-changer. Too bad my ex shows up with his new arm candy. That's when I lose my mind.

Dirty Ugly Toy is a novel that blurs the lines of right and wrong, deals with abuse, contains dubious consent, and adult subject matter. If you are sensitive to violent sexual situations, the book may not be suitable for you. Some parts of this book are not easy to hear and are not intended for everyone. However, those that keep an open mind and stick with it will not be disappointed.

She was my first love. She was my first hate. The very sun in my world tried to burn me alive with her lies and cruelty. Until I dimmed her light for good.... Or so I thought. Now she’s back. Cracked. Broken. Lost. And for the first time in a long time, I feel free. Free from our past. Free from my present that suffocates me. Free to destroy her future. Her misery is my music. Thrilling. Invigorating. Intoxicating. For so long, all I’ve done is hate her. So why do I love her?

An incredibly raw and gripping tale which had me addicted right from the prologue! The subject matter was tackled so well and my heart sobbed for what Raven, Rome and Courtney all experienced at the hands of bullies but at varying degrees. I loved Rome, he was equal parts scary and swoony!!!

Loved Erin Mallon - she does broken heroines so perfectly! Noah Michael Levine was ok but sounded too old to be Rome.

I see you coming before you even know you want a piece of me. In a city riddled with warring families, I'll rise up between them. My people, the broken souls I gather, will have power by the time I'm done with them.

2.5 stars. The only thing which I loved about this story was the heroine T. I loved how strong and bad ass she was! This girl could seriously kick ass!! In my opinion, I felt she was way too good for Animal!! UGHHH!!! I wanted to seriously do some damage to him. I hated how he paraded his bedroom conquests right in front of T, despite her professing her love for him. The way he trampled all over her heart, especially given her sad childhood, was unforgivable. And I hated that he sleeps with T’s enemy Albany and we get a very detailed account of their bedroom antics!!! Just noooo!! Why would a reader want to read about the hero with another woman in such detail?!! And to top it all off, Animal only realised that he actually loves T when he thinks she has died!! Like whaaattt???!!!

The story itself was fast paced and action packed but I thought that it wasn’t romance driven at all. The flashbacks were also a little confusing for me as there isn’t any indication at the start of each chapter if we are in the past or present. The ending itself was very rushed and confusing. For example, T is captured by Albany and her actual escape is only explained as an after event. I actually stopped to check if I had accidentally skipped a chapter at this point as the jump from captivity to being released was so sudden. And then Albany is lured out of hiding via fake Facebook posts? It just seems like that was way too easy and the author couldn’t be bothered writing any more. I was quite underwhelmed by this story especially when I had such high expectations after reading MERCY. I am however looking forward to reading Ember’s story. Hopefully it will be better than this book.

It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress. Something blue. I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.” Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true. The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most romantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there.

Meh. I just didn’t get any feels from this story. The spark between Reid and Charlotte wasn’t there at all, and I felt like everything was so forced between them. Also I get that Reid was dealt a brutal card by having MS but seriously, it was all “poor me” for the rest of the book after this big reveal. For a hero, he was too soft for me. Just doom and gloom from Reid, and that made me just want to stop reading. It’s a shame because usually I do love the books by this writing duo and lately this hasn’t been the case. I think it’s time for me to move on from them.

I fell in love with Manda Baker eight years ago, and I loved her to the core of her soul. We were supposed to have that elusive happily ever after and spend a lifetime together. But that was all before she was stolen from me. Her best friend, Sarah Erickson, killed her. It wasn't intentional. It was far worse. Everyone claims it was just an accident, but I can see through the lies. Even if it's with my dying breath, I will make her pay for what she did. Fate hates me.

I always knew that Caleb’s story would be angsty and highly emotional, and Aly Martínez didn’t disappoint. After meeting him in CHANGING COURSE, I couldn’t comprehend how he would move forward and find his HEA again after losing Manda. I loved Emma - she was so feisty and bubbly that you knew straight away that she would be the perfect match for Caleb. These two together, both in and out of the bedroom were volatile and intense. At times, they were both so stubborn and pig headed that I wanted to scream at them both, but it made them so real and flawed as characters. I loved the way this story unfolded; this wasn’t an easy story to read as it was packed full of angst and twists, yet delivered on the feels and tears. I can truly say that I was so satisfied with the way Ms. Martínez brought Caleb’s story full circle.
