I enjoyed the story from the beginning to end. It was realistic in its depiction of family relationships. There was not a simple fairy tale story but one that showed racial, gender and class divides.

I loved this story. I am sad that it has finished and could immediately go back to the beginning and listen again . That does not happen very often for me. As a romantic nature lover and crime novel devotee it had everything needed to make it one of the best stories i have ever read. I was parked in my car listening to the last few minutes with tears pouring down my cheeks.

I found this story disappointing. I think the depiction of older women was not accurate and a bit cliched. The friendships seemed to be based on friendships in a younger group and just transposed to the older group. Overall I think it was well intentioned but not well executed.

I read to escape the banality of life so when a book just reflects back at me my bad decisions in relation to lovers and friends I feel cheated. I think this story went around in circles with lovers hurting each other, separating, returning and making the same mistakes. Over and over. I can read the story of my life in that and I would rather not be reminded of that.
