Written in a way that leaves no room for boredom. The kaleidoscope of segments forms a story over decades which leaves one filled with compassion for the characters as their lives unfold. Raw, honest and ever universally human. Wondefully narrated.

Law students Mark, Todd and Zola wanted to change the world - to make it a better place. But these days these three disillusioned friends spend a lot of time hanging out in The Rooster Bar, the place where Todd serves drinks. As third-year students, they realise they have been duped. They all borrowed heavily to attend a law school so mediocre that its graduates rarely pass the bar exam, let alone get good jobs.

Story
J. D. Vance grew up in the hills of Kentucky. His family and friends were the people most of the world calls rednecks, hillbillies or white trash. In this deeply moving memoir, Vance tells the story of his family’s demons and of America’s problem with generational neglect. How his mother struggled against, but never fully escaped, the legacies of abuse, alcoholism, poverty and trauma. How his grandparents, ‘dirt poor and in love’, gave everything for their children to chase the American dream. How Vance beat the odds to graduate from Yale Law School.

Why is all the swearing necessary? It would have been hundred times better without all the swearing. Good communicators don't need to swear to convey a message. The blasphemy could have been left out too.
