Susan Makar has been growing orchids for over twelve years now and has always had a green thumb. She dabbled in bonsai for a couple of years before eventually trying her hand at orchids and has been growing them exclusively ever since. She started out with only five and now has over five hundred! She keeps her plants in a sunroom as well as a greenhouse in her backyard. She is currently a board member of Sandhills Orchid Society in Fayetteville, NC (www.sandhillsorchidsociety.com), along with her husband Ray, who is the society’s webmaster.
