Paul Dohrenwend (born September 19, 1975) is an author, investor, and former chief of emergency medicine living in San Diego with his wife and five children. The Market is his debut novel inspired by a dream he had about the mind's dreaming state being able to produce the best virtual reality experience and his fascination of narconomics influenced by the cartel border stories that he read about in the San Diego news. He was born in Long Beach, California and raised in Newtown, Connecticut since he was two-years-old. It thirty years to return to California where he loves to ski, mountain bike, and surf. His father owned an auto parts store and was a private pilot. His mother is from Australia and was an art teacher. In 2010, the Haiti earthquake accelerated his family’s adoption of a son from Haiti and later that year their Ethiopian daughter's adoption was finalized. That same year, their third biological child was born. He received his bachelor’s degree and medical degree from Georgetown University and his MBA from The Wharton School. In 2020, he launched his own luxury brand of premium Japanese sake called Safu Sake that is brewed in Kyushu, Japan.
