I’ve spent the past 38 years going to sea for a living as a merchant mariner. As a young man who learned to sail, I had dreams of sailing to the South Pacific on a sailboat.
My grandmother always taught me to follow my dreams. Some of the best advice I ever got.
Over the years, I have worked on yachts, cruise ships, research vessels, tugboats, and container ships.
My work has enabled me to travel all over the world. Life at sea means long stretches of work followed by months of freedom, and I’ve always made the most of that time off.
Between ports and plane rides, I taught myself how to code, design graphics, and build websites and apps. These days, I’m focused on sharing what I’ve learned: helping others pick up new skills, follow their curiosity, and create things that make them proud.
