I grew up waking up with dreams still vivid in my memory. I grew up observing extraordinary women who didn't recognize themselves as such. And at some point I realized I had stories to tell, not about perfect heroines, but about ordinary women who carry a power they haven't yet discovered.
I am Laura Guimarães, a Portuguese author of fiction and self-help books.
My books are born on the border between fantasy and real life, where Portuguese legends of mermaids become an allegory for women's struggle for freedom, where the World of Dreams reflects the duality between light and darkness that exists in each of us, where traveling through time through art is also a journey to self-discovery.
My protagonists are women who have forgotten who they are and who find their way back.
I write for daughters who want to seek justice for their mothers. For granddaughters who watched their grandmothers disappear in silence. For all women who still have time to remember who they are.
And I also write for those who need to hear that it's never too late, whatever the age, the starting point, or the size of the dream.
