Hello! I'm Kelly Curtis, a writer who splits her time between creating futuristic science fiction worlds and penning steamy paranormal romances (those ones hide behind a few strategically chosen pen names—a woman has to keep some mysteries!).
With academic roots in anthropology, art, and linguistics, I bring an academic's curiosity and an artist's eye to imagining tomorrow's technologies and timeless passions. Born and raised in Indianapolis, I've since wandered through lecture halls and back alleys across Europe and East Asia, listening and gaining new perspectives about what it means to be a global citizen in the 21st century. These days, I've finally found hung my hat (and my perhaps-too-extensive mug collection) in the UK, which I'm happy to call my forever home.
Whether I'm writing about AI, interstellar diplomacy, or vampires with commitment issues, I'm always circling back to the same fascinating question: What makes us human when we're faced with the inhuman?
If you've ever found yourself drawn to the philosophical questions and hopeful vision of the original Star Trek (if I had to choose a love interest, it would absolutely be Spock—that logical exterior with those hidden depths! yes please.), you'll find a little of that in my work. My stories also draw inspiration from the more complicated moral landscapes of Deep Space Nine and the existential challenges of Battlestar Galactica. That blend of thoughtful exploration, uncertain futures, and characters caught between worlds runs through everything I write.
When not typing at my keyboard, you can find me getting lost in a good audiobook while I fold the laundry, on holiday and attempting to order a cocktail in a foreign language, or explaining to dinner party guests why aliens would definitely want to talk to us (or why they definitely wouldn't).
