Amy Clarice co-authored Lost and Found Cat: The True Story of Kunkush's Incredible Journey, a children’s book about a cat reunited with his war-torn family fleeing Mosul, Iraq. The story highlights hope and the power of a worldwide community.
In 2015, during a sabbatical, Amy traveled to Lesbos, Greece, where she volunteered on the frontlines of the refugee crisis where she found Kunkush, a stray cat separated from his family. She launched a global social media campaign, leading to his reunion with his family in Norway in 2016 and the subsequent publication of the award-winning book with Penguin Random House.
Amy is now writing a series of books titled "Because of Bobo" about the story of young Ahmad and his family's journey, a 15-year-old refugee from Afghanistan who Amy met in Greece in 2016. Ahmad was separated from his family before the Aegean Sea crossing and was desperately looking for them. After months of searching for them, they were reunited in Germany. The young adult books, co-written with Ahmad and his siblings, will honor the life of their mother, Bobo, whose love and determination ensured her children’s safety.
