When Darkness Calls is a serial killer book told from the point of view of the Criminal Psychologist Holly Wakefield. I liked that it wasn't from the police point of view for a change. Holly is an expert of serial killers and there does not see to be anything that she does not know about them. I did find the book to be a bit too long and struggled to stay focused but overall a good story.
Holly Wakefield works for the NHS as a Criminal Psychologist specialising in serial killers. When she receives a call from DI Bishop from the Met asking for her help she jumps at the chance. Arriving on the crime scene of a murdered wealthy couple she learns that there are signs that this is the same killer the Met have seen before. She throws herself into the case, determined to show the Met what she can do. This is a dark and gruesome book that is not for the faint hearted.
