Story
My husband is a doctor. He’s smart and charming, and everybody trusts him. Except me. On the surface, it looks like I have it all–the perfect marriage, the perfect husband, the perfect life. But it’s far from the truth. Doctor Drew Devlin is not the respectable figure he makes out to be. The reason we moved to this beautiful, old property with a gorgeous view of the sea was because we needed to put our past behind us. It should’ve been a fresh start for us both.

It was summer in the mountains when five small children vanished from their nursery school picnic. The heat was stifling that day, the tinkle of an ice-cream van in the air.... Three-and-a-half years later, in the dead of winter, the children are returned to their families...one by one. All except for Ivy - the granddaughter of Homicide Detective Kate Wakeland. The other four children say Ivy is dead.

Publisher's Summary
Marnie Logan often feels like she's being watched. Nothing she can quite put her finger on - a whisper of breath on the back of her neck, or a shadow in the corner of her eye - and now her life is frozen. Her husband Daniel has been missing for more than a year.
Depressed and increasingly desperate, she seeks the help of clinical psychologist Joe O'Loughlin. Joe is concerned by Marnie's reluctance to talk about the past, but then she discovers a book packed with pictures, interviews with friends, former teachers, old flames and workmates Daniel was preparing for her birthday. It was supposed to be a celebration of her life. But it's not the story anyone was expecting...

Loving the Joseph O’Laughlin series
I have almost finished the whole series in one month after coming across this as audibles free monthly listen for May. Michael Robotham has created addictive characters whom you really fall for and interesting storyline’s with good variety and crossover. I don’t want the stories to end!

Love the series
With the first book in this series it was wow, it was different and it has to be hard to keep that edge. True, through the series the way almost got lost once, maybe twice, but this book is right on par.

Psycho thriller
Marnie Logan had conflicting personas.
She was also being ‘looked after’ by a creepy stalker who had deadly tendencies.
Joe and Ruiz were there to disseminate and solve the mystery.
Trouble seems to be Joe’s middle name.

Suspenseful and hard to put down, a great story!
Sean Barrett is a wonderful narrator, holding the listener’s attention at all times. His ability to portray many characters of different ages and with varying accents was brilliant and contributed hugely to the enjoyment of the story.

Brilliant!
The suspense is great and brilliantly performed. There is one problem though, it's so intriguing it's impossible to make it last until the next book is due.
