Critic Reviews

"Two terrific female characters, both with secrets. Add Michael Robotham's clean prose and whipcrack pacing. The result? A book you won't be able to put down, although you may occasionally want to hide your eyes" (Stephen King)

"Robotham doesn't just make me scared for his characters, he makes my heart ache for them." (Linwood Barclay)

"Superbly exciting...." (Guardian)

Best pick.

Wow. This is the first book I have come across by Michael robotham. I read and listen to books all the time and this would certainly be in my top 5 now. Never before have I had such empathy with a villen that I am nearly willing her on during a crucial part of the plot because I can feel her anguish and need as her character has been masterfully built throughout the story.

Lucy price-lewis reads in a beautiful captivating voice that I could listen to all day which really finishes off the jewel of this novel.

Was hooked from the start

It’s a long book but you feel engaged with both female characters. I loved the voices especially Agatha’s inner self!!! Very convincing, would highly recommend

Clever

Easy to listen to and as it jumps between the two main characters, it flows nicely. Thought some of the detail in this and just the concept was well thought out. Enjoyed.... will read this authors work again

Prepare to lose time to this book

Such a well crafted tale told from two perspectives that confound and intrigue the reader with unexpected twists and turns. So well written that I felt connected with both Aggie and Meg's position and found it impossible to favour one side against the other. I struggled to put this one down and almost (almost!!) took a day off work so I could finish it. Wonderfully narrated by Lucy Price-Lewis who really brought the characters to life. I'd give 10 stars if I could.

Well written and engaging

Although a fair bit happened in the course of this story, it is more about building the characters. I found both main characters interesting despite a small tendency to stereotype.

Not a world-beater in depth, but a decent read, especially the slow exposition of the back stories.

Great story, needed to drive around the block to find out the ending, the narrator was really easy to listen to.
