Some Pig. Humble. Radiant. These are the words in Charlotte's Web, high up in Zuckerman's barn. Charlotte's spider web tells of her feelings for a little pig named Wilbur, who simply wants a friend. Story
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike ( Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennet, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.

Story
The kingdom of Cornucopia was once the happiest in the world. It had plenty of gold, a king with the finest moustache you could possibly imagine, and butchers, bakers, and cheesemongers whose exquisite foods made a person dance with delight when they ate them. Everything was perfect - except for the misty Marshlands to the north, which, according to legend, were home to the monstrous Ickabog. Anyone sensible knew that the Ickabog was just a myth to scare children into behaving. But the funny thing about myths is that sometimes they take on a life of their own.

Publisher's Summary
Penguin presents the unabridged audiobook edition of The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
'I've stolen a garden,' she said very fast. 'It isn't mine. It isn't anybody's. Nobody wants it, nobody cares for it, nobody ever goes into it. Perhaps everything is dead in it already; I don't know.'
After losing her parents, young Mary Lennox is sent from India to live in her uncle's gloomy mansion on the wild English moors. She is lonely and has no one to play with, but one day she learns of a secret garden somewhere in the grounds that no one is allowed to enter. Then Mary uncovers an old key in a flowerbed - and a gust of magic leads her to the hidden door. Slowly she turns the key and enters a world she could never have imagined.

So lovely
I’ve read this a few times since I was in primary school. I thoroughly enjoyed my latest go around. I listened while I was working in my garden, & the narrator (Indira Varma) does an excellent job- particularly with the accents (which other narrators really struggle with). The story is unique & it’s a classic for a reason. The writing is very good. I was transported to Yorkshire to a pocket in time, & learned about the people, the dialect, & the culture. I loved reading about nature, but also the nature of people. It has depth without being heavy. I wasn’t really a fan of all the talk of magic towards the end of the book, though. If it weren’t for that, I’d’ve given it 5 stars.

Perfect
Wonderfully narrated at just the right pace, she nails every voice and accent so that you can be carried away to the place and time and become immersed in the beauty of the story. This book is a classic celebration of nature and love and the power of belief. A must listen for children and adults. You’ll want to listen again and again.

An Enchanting Story Read Wonderfully
Indira Varma imbues this enchanting story with the life and light of her own creative energy. She gives such an outstanding performance of all the different characters, where she brilliantly captures all the emotions, and particularly the uplifting ones. I’m so glad I selected Varma’s reading of this wonderful story. 11/10
