Lindsay's created a great alternate reality where Vampires and Lycan alike are known humans. The humans call them the third species. Within that world..Show More » exists the Third Species Control Unit (TSCU) and within that are subdivisions such as the Lycan Control Unit and the Vampire Control Unit (VCU). Think of it like an FB I sort of organisation. The female protagonist, Caitlyn Parish works for the VCU as a shadow reader meaning she can read vampire's 'soul' of sorts. She has become obsessed with tracking and hunting down Master Vampire, and apparent criminal, Kane Malloy as well as finding what killed her parents. Kane Malloy is, in turn, on his own mission to seek vengance for the murder of his sister Arana.
Their stories intertwine and they realise that their current life's path are not so different even though they are on different sides of the law and order tracks.
I don't want to give too much away. However, the sexual tension is evident from their first meeting and also how they are the right fit for each other. Their relationship unravels amidst each of their finding out what happened to their respective murdered family members.
So many twist and turns in the story made it a great and addict 'read' (or listen in my case). I heard it all in 2 days! It is a complete plot. No gaps. Very heavy and I loved it!
It looks like every new book in the Blackthorn series grows darker and more addictive. In this continuation of the series, we're introduced to the Vam..Show More »pire Caleb and the Serryn Layla. Just as with Kane and Caitlyn, both appear to be polar opposites. Kane a former Serryn hunter and Layla a powerful Serryn. However, as their story progresses you start to see that they are similar. Layla is fighting her Serryn nature and has a strong need to protect her two sisters. While Caleb is fighting the monster that he was when he was a Serryn hunter and trying to protect his brother Jake.
This is a dark psychological romance and also intense as you are right there with Caleb and Layla as they fight their inner nature.
I haven't felt this invested in a story ever! I've listened to Blood Shadows and Blood Roses, but by far thus is the best book in the series. The vuln..Show More »erabilities of both Jask and Phia are so raw, so real. You truly empathise with them.
This is an incredibly emotional book and by far the most emotionally wrenching of all three of Lindsay. J. Pryor 's books. I am very much looking forward to Blood Deep.
