Daron Marks is a young guitar player with a dream: to make it big like the guys he grew up idolizing in New Jersey - or at least escape his dysfunctional family. He makes it as far as music school in Rhode Island and the rock clubs of Boston beckon him. But it's hard to succeed from the closet.

It's the summer of 1987, and Daron Marks is trying to make it big. His band is starting to attract attention from major labels, which is good, but his own attention too often strays to the band's lead singer, Ziggy. Daron already struggles with being gay, he doesn't need a relationship with a band member to make things worse. He resolves to keep his crush a secret. But nothing stays a secret for very long in the white-hot spotlight of fame.
Follow the band Moondog Three as they hit the road and tour the United States. Philadelphia, Athens, New Orleans, Austin, San Francisco... Daron learns there's much more to holding a band together than good music. What's a young, gay guitarist to do when his father's a homophobic jerk who might be embezzling from the band and his lead singer can't decide which he wants more, control of the band or love? Sex, drugs, and rock and roll... if only it were that simple.
