"One of my favorites"
I have read this book (and the other three books in the series) about once a year since it came out; one of my absolute favorite series, The Immortals. Full Cast Audio has made it even better since now I can enjoy it at work! The narration can be a little stilted but still enjoyable. I think they did an amazing job with the casting as well. I highly recommend any Full Cast Audio books, as well as any of Tamora Pierce's other books.
"Finally, we get number 2"
Having purchased Wild Magic, the first book in Pierce's Daine trilogy, I have been waiting a long time for this one. (They say that Emperor Mage, number 3, should be available around November.)
This is one of those books that I liked even better as an audiobook - Full Cast Audio did their usual excellent job.
"another magically done reading"
Tamora Pierce and the Full cast family make gold once again in this reading of the second book in the series "The Immortals" quartet it's like I'm a child again and listening to old fashioned radio shows that my gramps used to play for me when I visited him before he passed.
"Well -voiced and enjoyable. A great story for all."
Having read this story many times over the years, I am finding a new enjoyment with the audible version. The actors represent their parts wonderfully. If you struggle to get your tweenager to read, this series might do the trick. With all of the animals involved, it might even be worth starting with this one instead of the first book in the series. Don't just let them listen though! Get them to read along as it might help them to become readers for enjoyment, not because they have to. (So requests a long time teacher!) And who knows, with all of the great books that Tamora has written, they might become lovers of books! One can only hope!
"Alright but not great"
What I like the most. The idea of this story was beautiful, the main characters abilities are actually undermined in the beginning making you think this was going to be one of those underdog fights to the top books but, as your understanding of the characters past and power develops you realize this isn't true at all. The idea of the other characters are also good. What I like the least. The characters are too see through, instead of letting the story unfold or delivering it to you through detail it is told to you as if explaining how a person turns a page; kind of dryly. You don't get to guess anything, and even though the plot itself had potential it was lost in the rudimentary delivery.
No, like I said the plots have good potential but how he writes his stories are kind of a let down. instead of nose twitching he moved seeking its source, it smelled bad he didn't like it. Some probably can overlook this but I think this is a more of a in between finding your next great book read just to keep you busy.
I didnt think the narration was bad it had an old feel to it.
Sure like I said the plot it good its just the delivery that wasn't as great.
I'm not saying don't read this. I am saying that if your looking for a great series to get lost into and have your heart cords plucked and your wonder sparked this isn't that kind of book. It's fine for an average read though.
"Kept me out of trouble for quite a long time"
Loved this book. Once I started reading I could not put it down. Going to read more of this author.
"Great as always!"
Tamora Pierce spins wonderful tales, and Full Cast has wonderful actors. Her writer's voice is always a joy to hear, and the cast just makes things even more lovely.
"WolfSpeaker is excellent."
Read the books years ago. The cast for the audio version did an admirable job!
"As great as I remembered"
A wonderful, intricate story great for all ages, still just as good at 20 as it was when I was 12.
loved it and the different voice actors made it all the better like and old school radio show.
