The capital has fallen. The Darkling rules Ravka from his shadow throne.
Now the nation's fate rests with a broken Sun Summoner, a disgraced tracker, and the shattered remnants of a once-great magical army.
Deep in an ancient network of tunnels and caverns, a weakened Alina must submit to the dubious protection of the Apparat and the zealots who worship her as a Saint. Yet her plans lie elsewhere, with the hunt for the elusive firebird and the hope that an outlaw prince still survives.
Alina will have to forge new alliances and put aside old rivalries as she and Mal race to find the last of Morozova's amplifiers. But as she begins to unravel the Darkling's secrets, she reveals a past that will forever alter her understanding of the bond they share and the power she wields. The firebird is the one thing that stands between Ravka and destruction - and claiming it could cost Alina the very future she’s fighting for. Ruin and Rising is the thrilling final installment in Leigh Bardugo's Grisha Trilogy.

"10 stars! Best ending ever!"
This is book 3...and ladies and gentleman this is how a trilogy should end! For those of you who enjoyed Harry Potter....do you remember thinking at the end...does the wand belong to Harry....or doesn't it? This book had that type of ending, an ending that made me happy/sad/anxious to see if it would work/and just rung out thinking...man, I have GOT to listen to these again, it was awesome but so much happened I'm sure I missed something.
This book is full of murder, mystery, plots, plans, and best intentions. And we FINALLY see who Ileana will pick to be her man. The ending was amazing, it was powerful, and I think this series is good for anyone to read. Not much in the way of steam, but the story itself was so gripping adding in some steam for the sake of steam would have seemed false.
Can't say enough good things about this series!
Ruin and Rising is a beautiful and emotional ending to a fantastic trilogy. I absolutely loved this book and I could not put it down. I lost a lot of sleep over this one and I must say it was well worth the sleepless nights. Much like the previous two books this was a rich story with well-developed characters and plenty of plot twists and turns.
The final installment ties up many loose ends and comes to an absolutely satisfying conclusion. Although many were disappointed by the ending (mainly the love story) I thought the author did a wonderful job of pulling off a love quadrangle. There was never a “clear choice” for Alina and I believe the story came to a logical and satisfying ending.
I cared so much for these characters, including the villain; he was so cruel, calculating and absolutely evil but I still found him completely mesmerizing. Kudos to Bardugo’s brilliant writing!
I’m sad to let this story and these characters go, but I look forward to more from such a talented author.
5 HUGE stars!!
"4+, Excellent ending to series"
Oh, how I wish I could give this a full 5 stars! I can't seem to separate this book from the rest of the trilogy and somehow it matters to its review. That said, this one makes the trilogy more than a worthy investment. My minor complaints about the previous two books are eliminated entirely in Ruin and Rising. There's finally more action and less brooding. There's unexpected revelations, chaos, loss, and hope. Excellent. A well earned 4+. Kudos to Bardugo.
This series has become one of my favorites. I loved the writing style and descriptions! Lauren Fortgang did a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life, as well.
"Love this series"
I was surprised with how much my love for this book kept growing and growing until I was completely encased in its world.
Also the narrator was great her different accents really helped my imagination explode with imagery.
Read it and you'll love it!
I really enjoyed this book. Ruin and Rising was a great conclusion for the series.
"Perfect ending to an excellent trilogy."
Definitely loved this series, and this book wrapped things up in a nice way.
Big fan of Fortgang, she nails it again.
The voice actress made the characters come alive.
I was always in doubt as to how Ms Bardugo was going to resolve the Alina and Mal romance. She found a very creative way of solving the issue that didn't seemed forced.
Zoya just sprung out of the page. A minor character, but Ms Fortgang's rendition was so compelling that I was rooting for her to show up more than she needed to for the story.
I thought the scene on the spinning top was very well done and very moving in a dark way.
I loved the narrator. I could imagine the characters through her. it is definitely a great book to listen to.
"best series I've ever read"
I laughed I cried and I loved every minute on this series. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone of all ages.
To a great trilogy.
The story twists & turns sometimes at such pace you have to concentrate to keep up! Desperate, exultant & beautiful - edge of your seat listening.
"Blue skies coming your way"
A satisfying conclusion to the trilogy. It was a fun ride.
Narration was good and understandable at x2 playback speed.
