Though she is free of the palace, rescued from her position as a blood slave, Aria is haunted by the memories of her time spent within the fortress, tormented by memories of Braith, the prince that betrayed her and shattered her heart. Every day is a struggle to get through, and the only solace she is able to find is with Max, her best friend, and fellow captive.
Though Max does not understand her bond to Braith, he knows some of what she endured, and helps to ease some of the tattered pieces of her soul. Aria slowly begins to salvage the broken parts of her wounded spirit by throwing herself into the wonder of the woods she had so greatly missed, and the secure and reassuring love that Max freely gives her.
Her world is thrown into a tailspin again though when a marauding group of vampires destroy the caves she had found temporary shelter in. Scattered about the forest, seeking to stay hidden and find her family, Aria is stunned when Braith, the monster that savaged her heart, reappears. Stunned by his sudden arrival in her world, Arianna is uncertain if he has come to recapture her, or to kill her for daring to escape.

"Not as good as the first.."
No. Though I was interested enough, wanting to know what happens, I finished listening to the book and thought "That's it? That's the end?" It's not until you actually finish the whole book that you realize that not much actually happens. The first half of the book was very interesting and it kept me hooked. But toward the middle and through the end, the book fizzles out; it's mainly conversation to find out what is going on and lots of 'roll-your-eyes' romance and Braith's possessive 'nobody touch her' moments. Don't get me wrong, I am all for the romance, but the descriptions and dialogue are a little over the top in several scenes. Another aspect of the book I did not like was the writing. The author is so repetitive with her use of words that you start to notice them and cringe every time you hear them. The use of 'as if' or 'as it', or 'as he', or 'as she', or 'as they' was the worst. You hear it with every two to three sentences and I am not exaggerating here guys. It's pretty bad. Also, the author likes using descriptive adjectives for everything, and many of them seem unnecessary. In short, this book needs the fat trimmed.
The beginning, when Aria and Braith meet again. The least interesting would be the whole second half of the book.
I think the story has a lot of potential but after reading the second book I am hesitant to listen to the third.
"Love this series!!"
I loved this series way more than I expected to. I was captivated from beginning to end. I don't often listen or read books twice, but I may do that with this series. Not a standalone- you really need to start with book one, but it's worth it IMO. This has everything from extreme suspense, romance, paranormal, drama, adventure and a few laughs too. I loved the underlying plot or theme of the series and wound up thinking about that for days after finishing this series. ---//Spoiler below-----don't read any further if you don't want a spoiler.
----Spoiler----- This one really made me think - yes, if there were all powerful vampires, why the heck wouldn't one or all of them take over the world. Why hide in the shadows. Anyway, interesting plot to me as to how the humans survived and how the vamps did away with things they didn't need like cars, guns, etc.
Aria and Braith's journey continues. Their bond strong and undeniable. A very interesting journey! Good character, plot, & storyline development. Looking forward to book 3. The narrator did a great job!
"Can't wait to start book 3!"
Loved this book and can't wait to start reading the next book in the series!
The narrator did a nice job.
Not really. I wanted to listen to it, but it was not one that I could not put down.
Amazing, Exciting & Suspenseful
Braith and Ari are still my favorite characters. Its because of them and the love between them that makes me want more of their story. I also enjoy Jack, Ari's brother William and her father.
My favorite scene is when Ari felt Braith near her and when she lifted her head he was standing on the other side of the lake. I love when she shot the arrow at him, even though she missed him purposely, I enjoyed the chase afterwards.
I enjoyed every heartfelt moment Braith and Ari shared because even though you are listening to the audiobook you can still feel what the characters feel in that moment.
"Couldn't stop listening!"
I loved the story between Braith and Aria. His need to have her, her loneliness without him, their reunion.
I love Braith and Aria.
She does an amazing job with all the characters, I just can't choose!
Fantastic book! Loved it so so so much!
