    "A thrilling and unexpected end"

I've always loved how varied each book in The Power of Five is, and Oblivion takes that to new heights. It's unlike any of the other entries in the series, and even the story threads within the main plot straddle multiple genres, locations, and themes.

The slow reveal of how the status quo has shifted is gripping. and Oblivion maintains that intrigue throughout as it explore how this shift has affected different parts of the world. Horowitz has essentially stripped down this universe to its core, then built an entirely new one around it. This means that long time readers and newcomers are all introduced at the same pace, creating a self contained story for all, with many extra layers of depth for fans.

Oblivion pulls no punches, no one is safely hidden behind plot armour, making the whole experience enthralling from start to finish.

The narrator does a good job conveying both the subtleties of dialogue and the urgent pace of action. The American accent is really quite wonky but otherwise he does the material justice.

A must listen for fans of the series, and definitely something to consider if you're a newcomer. A true epic.

    Story
    "Disappointingly finished"
Would you try another book written by Anthony Horowitz or narrated by Paul Panting?

Yes, although Paul's American accent is appalling

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It felt rushed - trying to cram too much into one (albeit very long) book. Almost seemed like the writer was getting bored at the end and wanted to get it done, rather than thinking about how to effectively bring the series to an exciting close.

What aspect of Paul Panting’s performance might you have changed?

    Hi false American accent.

Could you see Oblivion being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?

Only with a major rewrite of the ending.

"Very good but a little confusing at the end"

I really liked this book - in fact the whole of the power of five books- however I am some what confused by the ending of this
last book - as I've heard it before- where the ending is totally different- I wonder if anybody has come across this too?

    Story
    "Obliviously overwrought apocalypse"

It can be hard to take such high stakes seriously, but there are some genuinely horrible moments (intentionally so) among the more laughable ones.
The narrator was generally competent but had a distractingly bad American accent.
Overall this is fun YA fare that successfully ties up the loose ends of the series. Go for it for for an introduction to horror and fantasy or if you're a fan of Horowitz.

    "A little disappointing"

I enjoyed the story and revisiting the characters but felt even at 24hrs worth of audio book it's a little rushed and over simplified.
