Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of Magnus Chase and the Sword of Summer, Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard book one, by Rick Riordan, read by Christopher Guetig.
Magnus Chase has always been a troubled kid. Since his mother's mysterious death, he's lived alone on the streets of Boston, surviving by his wits. One day he's tracked down by an uncle he's never met - who tells him an impossible secret: Magnus is the son of a Norse god. The Viking myths are true. The gods of Asgard are preparing for war. Trolls, giants and worse monsters are stirring for doomsday.
To prevent Ragnarok, Magnus must search the Nine Worlds for a weapon that has been lost for thousands of years.

This is a great story, very enjoyable to listen to. Rick Riordan has done it again, amazing plot and fun and enjoyable characters.Although the narrator wasn't the best choice. He didn't pronounce things properly and at times his tone was too flat/monotone.
never would i buy anything again narrated by christopher guetig. he cant pronounce anything correctly and his voice is very annoying. its not hard to pronounce these simple words!!
couldnt listen til the end
A well written , face paced story for young adults and adults alike , take the journey into myth and legend , be prepared tovlaugh , cry and cringe .
A oller coaster ride of a book worth every minute .
"Great Book Terrible Narration"
Try listening to the other recent series, The Hidden Oracle. The narrator is a lot more involved and much better at character description. This one ruins the mood constantly.
"Good story, horrid narrator!"
The story is really good and interesting. The narration is awful, the book sounds like it is being read by a robot and does make me feel I won't be listening to the next book in this series! My opinion read this book don't listen to it
"Good use of Norse Mythology - Narrator is not good"
The story twists and turns as the characters move through the story line similar to the other books written by Riordan. The narrator is not good though in my opinion - reads in the style of a junior school child rather than a streetwise teenager - sorry.
Too childish rather than a homeless teenager.
I would listen to this again as Magnus and the others are brilliantly written characters portrayed well in this audiobook. I love Magnus's narration and the audiobook format brings the characters to life in a way the page can't. Rick Riordan's books translate well to this format.
"absolutely brilliant in every way Tinkerbell it's"
I really enjoyed the book is the best book I have ever read really enjoyed☺
"Amazing all around."
The narrator of this book took a while to grow on me but now I absolutely admire his work and the enthusiasm he showed when reading this book. The book itself is also unbelievable and amazing with the amount of research must have gone into writing it.
yes, because it cost me money
characters. the main characters are great
as long as he keeps weeeeell away from the Irish accent
the main character interactions.
could have improved delivery of, what was meant to be, funny lines. and his irish accent kinda sounds across between russian, romanian and cockney london (like, dick van dyke, london accent) ..... and i think i caught a bit of scottish. ok one sencence was scottish.
read the story before listening to it. love the story, recommend it to anyone who's a fan of rick riordans work.
I love the book I recommend this book to everyone who likes action and adventure books
If you know Rick Riodens books you will be familiar with his characters. As you read this book you might be fooled into thinking the author just likes certain names. .... I'm not saying any more
Rick Riordan has done it again! Magnus Chase and the sword of summer was just what I expected. There were twists and turns and I couldn't put it down. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that likes his other books and I would recommend this to anyone who likes action and adventure books!
Uncle Rick has done it again. A great book. Anyone who enjoys Ricks writing will love this book.
