Publisher's Summary

A New York Times bestseller • Winner of the Michael L. Printz Award • A Stonewall Honor Book

The radiant, award-winning story of first love, family, loss, and betrayal for fans of John Green, Becky Albertalli, and Adam Silvera

"Dazzling."—The New York Times Book Review
"A blazing prismatic explosion of color."—Entertainment Weekly

“We were all heading for each other on a collision course, no matter what. Maybe some people are just meant to be in the same story.”

At first, Jude and her twin brother are NoahandJude; inseparable. Noah draws constantly and is falling in love with the charismatic boy next door, while daredevil Jude wears red-red lipstick, cliff-dives, and does all the talking for both of them.

Years later, they are barely speaking. Something has happened to change the twins in different yet equally devastating ways . . . but then Jude meets an intriguing, irresistible boy and a mysterious new mentor.

The early years are Noah’s to tell; the later years are Jude’s. But they each have only half the story, and if they can only find their way back to one another, they’ll have a chance to remake their world.

From the acclaimed author of The Sky Is Everywhere, this exhilarating novel will leave you breathless and teary and laughing—often all at once.

esquisite

Jandy Nelson is a GOD. She chooses each word to build a poetical, soulful masterpiece that I never wanted to end. She paints such a dazzling picture of adolescence, grief, loss, and love with the split timelines and force of nature characters.

Narrators were mostly good but their English accents were terrible.

A valuable and lovely book for teenagers.

I work as a carer and listened to this with one of the young men I work for and found it delightful. Such a great book for youngsters (and anyone really). To be familiar with the themes of identity, grief, sexuality and creativity at an early age would be wonderful. It is well-written and does not condescend or dumb down. I reckon 13 years and up.

I love love love this book. There are no other words to describe it. It’s written so well and I really enjoyed this story. The two perspectives consisting of Noah and Jude were portrayed so well and I loved both characters. Highly recommend this incredible book :)

Two narrators, one story

This is a really compelling story. I like experiencing the story from two different narrators at two different times in their lives. Seeing how they changed and learning why.

Jesse Bernstein's voice for Noah is one of the reasons I decided to listen to the audiobook. I heard a preview and immediately recongised Noah in his voice. He really nails the youthful optmism and space-cadetness of the character. I really like his Brian too, who has a much more laid back, relaxed kind of attitude. The English accent for Oscar was a little jarring compared to Julia Whelan's take, but that's the only real negative.

Julia Whelan likewise has a great voice for Jude. She really emotes in a way that I wasn't expecting. Previous experience tells me most readers will keep the 'acting' to a minimal, but when Whelan busts it out it really works. Her Oscar wasn't exactly how I imagined it when I read it the first time, but it works with the character. I didn't really like her Noah though. I mean it worked for the shut off version of the character but when we see glimpses of the younger version he still sounds too much like a surfer douche. I get that it's Jude's interpretation of her brother, but it's hard to compare with Bernstein's spot-on version.

In terms of the story, it was nice to revisit in a different medium. My original loves and criticisms haven't changed, except I really wish Noah had a chance to contribute to the final chapter. I understand the way it was written that Noah had the first chapter and Jude had the last, but there's a particular story that we only see from Jude's perspective that I really wish we could see in person from Noah's point of view.

Wholesome, I liked

But can we talk about how utterly abominable those accents were. If I hear a Russian accent coming out of the Mexican dude again...
