Not sure what the hype is about.

This book delivers advice and motivation for long term travelling that could be mistaken for common sense.

In my opinion this was simply a collection of essential tips for backpacking.

I'll sum up the book in a sentence:

If you want to travel for a long time you will need to have a prior financial windfall, lower your standard of living and be selfish enough to leave everything behind without hesitation.

$20,000 will see you off for a long time if you learn to couch surf, dumpster dive and travel overland. Go for it, but don't take this book.

Not as Earth-shattering as advertised.

Given the audio version publisher’s promotion of this audio book I expected to have to stop the car from time to time to ‘take it all in, flabbergasted’... but no, I found it a reasonable book with simple wisdom, many tips, and even more quotes of other authors, which I enjoyed but my world still is intact. Recommend it? Yes, but don’t rave about it.

A book for the American idiot

This book is common sense and portrays the opinions of a person which he pushed as though they're facts. As for the travel tips, they're pretty much common sense as well. I can't understand why tim ferries made such a big deal about this book

Excellent and very helpful

Very thorough and well written, yet also full of practical personal anecdotes. I was impressed at how well read this guy was about the history of travel, culture and society. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it.

Hard copy to be Bought

I will be buying a hard copy of this book having listened to it. Rolf is engaging and relaxed in his narration. His passion is evident and in his voice you hear his belef in letting go.

His advice is easy and practical. He does not speak of anything that is not attainable by any person.

This is a book that will fill with notes and scribbles as U an about to begin my own journey.

1 highpoint, get a summary from someone

The discussion of travelling vs tourism was good. The overuse of the word vagabonding was very annoying/repetitive after the 1st 15 uses. listening to the 'vagabonding voices ' was truly nauseous. pretentious travel writers /bloggers pedalling some vague philosophy and a lot of redundant travel tips. get a summary from someone who read it.

So much more than a travel guide

I downloaded this book as a travel guide but it ended up being so much more than that.

The philosophy that permeates through the story is one of tolerance, courage, curiosity and self exploration- deep down I found this a more-than-useful guide to my entire life, not just any intended travels.

The whole narrative is presented in an easy, laid-back style, and does not preach in any way. It’s not only inspired me to get back out on the road, but also to me more grateful if what I have. It really is a wonderful book.

Great info. I could relate through the whole book

I have been asked many times if I am ever going to write a book... that the book has already been written and this is it
