Little changes can make a big, big difference! In The Little Book of Big Change, psychologist Amy Johnson shows you how to rewire your brain and overcome your bad habits - once and for all.
No matter what your bad habit is, you have the power to change it. Drawing on a powerful combination of neuroscience and spirituality, this book will show you that you are not your habits. Rather, your habits and addictions are the result of simple brain wiring that is easily reversed. By learning to stop bad habits at the source, you will take charge of your habits and addictions for good.
Anything done repeatedly has the potential to form neural circuitry in the brain. In this light, habits and addictions are impersonal brain wiring problems that result from taking your habitual thinking as truth, and acting on that thinking in the form of doing your habit - over and over. This book offers a number of small changes you can make in your everyday life that will help you stop your bad habit in its tracks.
If you want to understand the science behind your habit, make the decision to end it, and commit to real, lasting change, this book will help you to finally take charge of your life - once and for all.

"If you're ready to change, this is the book"
I mean, WOW!! For anyone like me that has struggled for decades with one or more unwanted habits, this book is a permanent game-changer. In addition to Amy's insights into the nature of thoughts & emotions as they relate to addictions, obsessions, compulsivity, etc. being spot on, her book is extraordinarily well written and refreshing in it's simple (but not simplistic), clear, easy approach. And it's completely devoid of all the usual psycho-baffle-gab so commonly found in the self help genre. As a result of the freedom I acquired through the insights written about by Amy, I am not only recommending this book to my own clients, I am retaining Amy as my own life coach. If you are looking to free yourself of one or more unwanted habits, even if you've tried everything under the sun, the answers in this book are what you're looking for. If you are already a practicer of mindfulness, this book will add even more to your understanding.
"Listened to this three times"
Great book, stilted performance.
I really connected with this book, the content and anecdotes resonates deeply with me. I very much struggled with the performance and found the readers voice sharp and somewhat robotic. Overall worth the listen.
This book was nothing revolutionary for me in terms of information but something about how the author presented it clicked with me and has helped me immensely.
"I was expecting more"
This book narrates exactly how we feel when we continuously do our habits and why we do them. Unfortunately it doesn't provide a useful nor a real solution to the problem at all, trying to think different or cope with thinking about the habit is not a solution.
"Good material, challenging to get through."
I love the content and purpose of this book. It has some really great ideas and concepts. I'm not sure exactly what it was but I found it challenging to get through the book each time I turned it on. I feel like I was continually waiting to get to the point and couldn't wait for it to be over. I was waiting and waiting for the "how to" but never really arrived specifically. There's a lot of drawn out, repeat or unnecessary filler examples of people's issues. I feel like the essence of the material could've been presented in 45 minutes or less very effectively. But I do find the material itself very valuable and enlightening, and it shed some new light.
"Transformative and life-changing"
This book was profound. It's been a long time since I have received as many new insights as I did from reading this book. I'm so glad that I read it
With this beautifully simple premise, Dr. Amy Johnson offers an effective way to eliminate addiction or to change any habit that stands between us and the life we want.
"An approach most have heard, but forgot to apply.."
I have heard some of these points in that movie "What the bleep do we know". However Amy puts it in a way that seems to have her own voice, but can feel believable because she isn't the only one stating it. Our habits, our brain and how we perceive our life comes up in this book. Makes you take a long hard look at what you can actually do and not do. I like the fact of not really having to do anything with my habit...goals, steps, checklists...none of that matters. Not even falling off the wagon matters. Just read this, you're bound to get some insight from it. That is the first step....INSIGHT.
"Take the pressure off"
This great but very simple book gave me insight into my mind and habits at a deeper level. It showed me the one simple truth. There is nothing wrong with me. I am already enough. Amy showed me that my thoughts are not who I am and it is living in the moment and not in my thoughts that is where peace lies. I could say much more but I suggest if you are looking for joy, peace and happiness in you life, read or listen to Amy. Everyone needs to read this book today.
Thank you Amy for your love.
"Changed my Perspective"
It put to words everything I intuitively knew about my habit. I've made great gains in handling my addictions
"absolutely loved it!"
such an easy listen a much have! I've went back to this on numerous occasions & recommended it to everyone I know! Thank you Amy Johnson
"The mechanics of real change"
I already have! That pretty much says it all....
It lays out why you do what you do, and how to change what you do which you don't like! It also provides the blueprint to adjust and control your behaviour. A truly valuable skill to master! Brilliant book, Exceptional even. I highly recommend it.
"A wise investment in yourself!"
I loved this book. Will be one I go back to a few times. There's so much to see freshly for me around habits. I'd recommend for anyone actively seeking to drop a bad habit or addiction - any and all! I was listening in the context of eating habits and it has been impactful already. I feel more able to make more healthy choices more of the time.
