Publisher's Summary

The exciting follow-up to New York Times #1 best-selling author Patricia Briggs' Masques features the further adventures of the shapeshifting mercenary Aralorn.

Aralorn's dangerous existence has taken her far from her aristocratic roots and kept her from her homeland for more than a decade. Now, she must return home to mourn the death of her father, the Lyon of Lambshold. But when Aralorn and her companion Wolf arrive, they discover that home is gone forever and they must take on an old enemy more sinister than they ever could have imagined.

Katherine Kellgren, the voice of Masques and one of Audible's favorite narrators, returns to take listeners on this new adventure.

BONUS AUDIO: Includes an introduction written and read by author Patricia Briggs.

"Excellent listen that left me longing for the next"

I just finished this book and Masques. The two main characters were easy to like and had significant depth. The "bad guy" was quite evil with out being over the top. I found it difficult to turn off either book which my family loves as I cook much more elaborate meals just to have an excuse to listen. It has been many weeks since I last found a book that would entice me to make homemade applesauce.

As was said by the other reviewer, I truly hope the author picks this series back up and writes at least a couple more.

    "So good"

I enjoyed this one as much as Masques! She has such a talent for writing suspense long enough its a good mystery yet not to where it drags. She ads clues so you figure it out with the characters. Characters who we grow to care about.

    "I want more!!"

I wish there were more books after this one. I feel like we were just getting to know Wolf and Aralorn. There is so much more I want to know about them. I think I'm going to have to go back and listen to them again and see if I can find any hidden gems that I missed the first time around.

    "Didn't like the narration"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I think it will be a good story for some but it didn't do it for me and I think it had something to do with the narration. I kept falling asleep on it and the story just didn't keep me interested. I've listened to a couple of the other ones in the series and enjoyed them enough but not this one.

    "Another winner by Patricia Briggs!"

Loved this book - I miss Aralorn and Wolf already! I hope she'll write more about them. I don't listen to too many audio books over and over, but I do listen to Patrica Briggs' books over and over. Her characters are so well rounded, so full of life. If you like magical fantasy type books, this one won't disappoint.

    "More goodness!"

This is a great follow up to masques and I so glad it did come out even if its a bit latter then the others. There is a little bit of audio error at the end but not enough to take away from the performance which is also amazing! Both author and narrator have brought this story and its characters to life!!!!

    "great sequel to Masques"

got a bit overly twisted at the end but was a satisfying sequel to book 1 and had great characters to continue the story - is there book 3?

This second book in the series is a better story than the first book in the series. It held my interest with ease.

    "A satisfying conclusion"
What did you like most about Wolfsbane?

I loved the story. It was not a traditional story, in that there is no massive battle in the usual sense. The enemy, the "bad guy", is so dark and insidious that it is a really interesting journey with Aralorn and Wolf to find out how to defeat him.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Wolfsbane?

Without wishing to spoil the surprise, the "trick" Aralorn plays on Wolf that reveals a lot about how much they have been through together is my favourite moment. It really touched me, and was very well written.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The scene where Aralorn returns home is excellent. The revelation of her being surrounded by family is a real eye opener into her character, especially after being so isolated previously.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Aralorn believes her father is dead, it was really moving. It is very well written, emotional without being overly sentimental.

    Any additional comments?

Again the narration is excellent. Katherine Kellgren does an excellent job of all the difficult language and characters. I really hope Patricia Briggs revisits this series in the future.
