It is the year 5170 in the land Agora, where humans, dwarves, and elves have existed in peace for centuries. Now, however, the human King Addakon has invaded and waged war on neighboring Isladon. The once peaceful Kingdoms of Agora are on the brink of continental war. The Dark Elf Eadon, and his army of Dragon-Elf crossbreeds, the Draggard, threaten to conquer all kingdoms. Enter young Whill, a 19-year-old ranger with battle savvy and untapped abilities. Having spent years roaming Agora and training with his mentor Abram, Whill has become a bright intellectual and a master of combat. Along the way, Whill encounters an equally inspired group of companions that are matched in skill and mission. What he seeks most, however, is the identity of his birth parents. Instead, he finds a tumultuous terrain and a prophecy placing him in the center of the struggle.

"audio versions bring so much more"
read this book a while back and really enjoyed it decided when I saw it had come out on audio to get it i just love how much more the stories seem when spoken aloud
"Fast-moving, excellent performance."
Probably ranks in the top 10 audiobooks.
I agree that it is more accurately classified as YA, but it is still an engaging story. Fast-paced, fun, and an excellent performance by Graham Halstead. Not overly serious, but well-written and characters are identifiable. Recommend.
this book was awesome story characters I loved them all. Perfect bad guy . and good guy. a dethroned prince.
"loved the storyline I look for to the next book"
the author wove a interesting, fast paced story. I look forward to reading more
"Please dont judge this book bybthe narrator!"
I originally read this series on Kindle. I loved the story and the characters. When Book 6 came out, I needed to remember the story so I bought Book 1 on Audible...the narrator is so bad I had a hard time finishing. But go read it!
Didn't love the narration and the story was a little to flat and predictable but still good enough that I'll try the next one and hope for a little more.
"good story good writer"
he tends to spend a lot of time describing scenes and when you expect action at first nothing happens but the plot and characters are great and the non action does build character.
"All of the ingredients of epic fantasy, but"
it doesnt quite reach it's potential. For one there is little world building and very littel, or original magic system. I think the author has potential and I will probably buy the next book. I liked the narrator, while he did have consistent voices for the characters, the range in the voices were not distenctive enough and at times I would have to concentrate on who was speaking.
"I can't take any more 50s Prince Valient again"
The idea behind it is good, dormant yokel turned king:The insufferable characters
Not like this
Average characterisation - just about tell the differences
I persevered again and again then that's when I couldn't take any more
Stop being so long winded about every little description, get a new editor
"So much re hashed rubbish"
spoiler ish alert . some original ideas or twist. some thing new. this book is a poor mans eragon without dragon riders. its just poor. theres a boy he is the chosen one. sigh. there is an elf he falls in love. there is magic he some how masters quicker than any one. sigh. what the actual heck is this rubbish. if your going to use well done line you need to throw something in there to spice up the mix.
no, i have over 200 books in my audible library and most are fiction fantasy sci fic
it wasnt bad just bland. this wasnt his best work
not really, it has taken other good works and made the idea poor. it felt like a poor mans classic band of adventurers.
why is it every time the narrator mentions women in this book he just says shes beautiful beyond discription. im buying a book for you to describe stuff. thats like a cook saying it tastes more than you can taste so i wont cook it. bring some dimension to your people. every one was flat 2d. the elf is pretty. so what. whats her personality like. throw me a bone here. people dont bother with this tripe
Story is good solid characters and well told a little more depth required but waiting for next instalment
This was a very gripping listen, I found it very hard to put down, so much so I purchased the following 2 books in the series after only 3 hours of listening.Graham Halstead did a very good job with the narration. If you have ever listened to any of Christopher Paolini's books then you will enjoy this series. I'm off to start book 2 now.
