In the world of Draenor, the strong and fiercely independent Frostwolf Clan are faced with increasingly harsh winters and thinning herds. When Gul'dan, a mysterious outsider, arrives in Frostfire Ridge offering word of new hunting lands, Durotan, the clan's chieftain, must make an impossible decision: abandon the territory, pride and traditions of his people or lead them into the unknown.
An original tale of survival, conflict and magic that leads directly into the events of Warcraft, an epic adventure from Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures based on Blizzard Entertainment's global phenomenon.

Loved the story and the story telling. After listening to many Star Wars books however I wish this Audiobook had some sound effects and music added in like the Star Wars books do. It would have topped it off for me.
"fantastic... his voices are spot on! A+"
My second audible book, I was so immersed I found myself sitting in the truck after I had gotten home from work.... listening....
"great story really enjoy durotan his ability to"
to lead his clan with honor and be soft hearted loving husband . this story can appeal to both men and woman. I'm hooked and need to hear more story!!!
"Great for fans and loremasters alike"
In all the book was very entertaining and the narrator did an exceptional job. The one thing that may have threw me off at first was the narrators accent. Prepare for British orcs. Other than that, a great story and experience overall.
"Another great Christie Golden book"
Some may overlook this one since there were a few other wow books released around the same time, but I suggest this not missing it. The story touches on struggles and the foundation of the orcs in a compelling way. The story pulls you in and if you are a fan of other wow books it is one to definitely pick up.
I enjoyed every second of this audiobook. The british accent isn't a bother at all, the speaker's emphasis was spot on.
Really love the new take of the Warcraft franchise! Cant wait for more books! 5/5
i love the story and the author. recommending to everyone who loves fiction stories !
"Not worth it"
This book was cheap and it was just running off the height of the movie drones on and on when you finally get to a plot point or something interesting it is short-lived it is more like a bottle rocket the book was not satisfying at all and also sorry for my typos
"Good for family"
Anyone might enjoy this story. All ages, evan at 83, 22,12 and 51. Book 2 is not for all nor as good.
Even though it is another timeline/universe Christie Golden masterfully writes about Durotan and the mysterious and new red walkers. The prequel is worth reading even after you've seen the movie. Written in a style that will have you wondering how Durotan came to be where he is in the film and keep you locked in until the very end.
"Great for free trial."
loved the story, really enjoyed the performance. Looked at other books and refuse to pay the amount asked for them, which is disappointing. Far too expensive for what they are.
"A lukewarm book"
Despite loving C.G.'s book, for the most part, this prequel seems very washed out and tacked on.
Compared to her previous work in Lord of the clans; Rise of the Horde; Arthas; and Tides of Darkness, Warcraft: Durotan lacks whatever else the others had to make them so enthralling.
setting aside the fact that this is a movie adaptation - ergo a lot of the story and characters background is incorrect or "adjusted", the book reads in a very dull manner and failed to grasp me, I did not feel like I had to have "more" like those books that you just can't put down and you itch to pick it up again whenever you can.
The story is dull, and apart from conversations with Gul'Dan and the odd battle with the "other" orcs, nothing else managed to keep me ar the edge of my seat or aching for more.
My strong advice is to read Rise of the Horde, by the same author, instead. By doing so you will be getting a much better story AND the accurate Durotan story.
Things like Durotan only catching "glimpses" of Draenei through his lifetime, instead of, well, what actually happened, made me cringe.
Give this one a skip and pick up the real Durotan prequel with Rise of the Horde, and trust me, you'll understand much better why Durotan is such an honorable yet burdened orc.
Loved it, great intoduction to the Orcs world. Wonderfully narrated. Fully recommend if you're planning to watch the movie.
"Amazing but lacking action"
This was my first audio book experience and it was amazing! I found myself excited to get a spare half hour to sit down and listen to it. The story is amazing and the characters are portrayed fantastically.
If I had to criticise I would say the book itself could have a little more action.
"Not much of a book or story"
Book could have been told in 45 minutes and not much of anything really happens.
"Loved it, great start to a epic story."
narrator was excellent. I loved the characters and it was easy to follow and didn't get confused at all.
I greatly enjoyed the tone of this book and the representation of the orcs in this world. The presentation of their rituals and their sense of pride and honour. It made connecting with their story all the more touching.
The narrator did an excellent job of putting some variety in the gruff voices of the orcs, as it would be very easy to have them all sound very similar.
Having finished this just before going to see the movie, I can confirm that it's a great lead up, which had me feeling far more empathy for some of the characters that make it beyond this story and into the new feature film.
