Within 48 hours, it had become a global pandemic. There was no explanation. The dead were rising, returning to life, and devouring the living. Commander Peterson, leader of the most elite fighting unit in the US armed forces, was assigned one, last final mission.
In his worst nightmares, he never could have imagined this apocalypse, or that he and his team were to become the one last hope that remained....

The story line here is pretty typical zombie junk. It centers around an elite "Shadow" military team, more skilled than Navy Seals. Except they're all idiots. Lots of silly mistakes included in order to create tension, I understand some of that is necessary, but an elite force wouldn't make such huge mistakes such as what is included in Twice Dead, which made it hard to swallow.
"excellent! need more!"
I really didn't think I would love this but I did. I just wish it was longer! sucked me in right away narrator was fantastic. the author had written other novels in this series but they're not in audio yet! ! please put them in audio form! ! I'm a Patient Zero fan and also liked day by day Armageddon of they let's you know my tastes. I also like Diana Rowland but thats not zombie. anyway. the book is great the main character is assertive and I really need to hear more! !!
The book is great, however the narrator is boring. No excitement or enthusiasm in reading this novel. If you really want this book, please be prepared to lose focus, wihile listening to the narrator
anyone other than this guy
"George's Magnum Opus?"
It's time to welcome another Zombie apocalypse to Planet Earth, this time under the guidance of George Magnum. His enigmatic Commander Peterson is the latest special ops hard guy to pit his team, wits and firepower up against what seems like an irresistible horde of blood-crazed zombies. This is a very high action content story about elite troops taking arms against the shambling undead. It is much more in the fashion of the Arisen series or the Morningstar Strain than say the Walking Dead.
If I'm reading right this isn't just Magnum's debut it is also Rich Remedios's first professional audiobook narration and I'd have to say he seems to be a man with a future. Solidly consistent throughout he delivers the right tone for an action story like this.
I enjoyed Twice Dead and will continue with the next installment. However, this series does not look like it will transform the genre. There isn't a massive play for originality. The zombies behave exactly like you expect them to and the elite troops show the usual fictional mix of ultimate toughness and plot-inducing frailty. However, it's a good action story and the zombie genre is still a small one compared to say crime and thrillers. There is plenty of room for an author like Magnum to ply his trade and entertain us with his version of apocalyptic events and he does this in good style.
My main criticism of the whole thing is the length. You're not really getting "Book One" you are getting "Book One Part One". At least in my opinion. Magnum does end Twice Dead in a reasonable place though tying off a significant sub plot. So you'll likely still feel satisfied enough with the ending.
