In order for the Storm King to cement his power over Osten Ard, he must find and defeat the rebel forces massing against him. But the rebels, led by the exiled Prince Josua, have rallied at the Stone of Farewell and are ready to fight the Storm King with every power they can muster. The key to their victory lies in finding the third sword of legend, Memory - but the sword has been lost for ages.
Lost, that is, until Simon Snowlock realises that he knows exactly where the sword is and how to recover it. The only problem: An undead army, bolstered by powerful magic, lies between him and his destination. It will take every ounce of Simon's courage and intelligence to journey to and then recover the great sword, Memory, and bring peace to Osten Ard.
If Simon's quest is to have any hope, Josua must move against the Storm King himself - a journey that will take him across endless seas, through ancient forests and into the stronghold of the Storm King himself.

"An epic story narrated beautifully."
The characters in this complex story were brilliantly brought to life. Well done! I would highly recommend it to anyone.
"Best young adult fantasy I have listened to"
I found this book so rewardig and enjoyable. The plot was quite forseable, however even with that it didnt spoil the wonder, hearthache and excitment. I am very happy to have finished this book, will get a paper versio too. Top 5 my favourite books.
I listened to all four books in days. Couldn't put them down. I originally kept to crime and thriller books when I first joined Audible but dipped into this medieval fantasy stuff when taking advantage of Audibles daily deals. I'm hooked I have been on some incredible journeys this series being one of them. I fully recommend.
"great but !! can he waffle "
lots of description but good story i have to put 20 words this says it all long but u will enjoy it
"An Old Favourite"
love, love, love
The adventure, the charactors, the colour and depth
mmmmm what a voice!
Read all these books years ago it,s lovely to have them brought to life all over again
"Totally absorbing series I'll listen to it again."
Totally spellbinding I'll have to listen to it again just to escape to Tad Williams world once more. It's a wonderful place to be.
"Worthy conclusion to a solid saga"
On the whole, probably not. I enjoyed the whole saga, don't get me wrong, but i found it overlong and slightly bloated. which us why i gave it a 4 for story. Too much time spent listening to a characters internal monologue. A journey through a forest becomes several chapters detailing every movement, every stumble and every thought. In my view a slightly stronger steer with teh red pen in editing would have made this a far tighter series.
That said, I loved the twist at the end and loved the fact that Vorsheva was right about Joshua.
The plot twists at the end
Andrew Wincott's voice is perfect for this genre. It feels right.
Hope is all you have
"Involving and enjoyable escapism!"
Very sorry that I've now finished the series and have to say goodbye to everyone, but really enjoyed every aspect.
Fantastic that this last book kept up the twists and turns and never ran out of steam.
"Painfully drawn out"
This was an eagerly awaited finale to the series, but I found that the more I read the harder going it got. The story became increasingly and unnecessarily convoluted in in the final quarter and I found it a slog to keep going until the end
Take tad williams off my "authors to look for" list
The best books ever, better than Lord of the rings. Loved every chapter. I could listen to it all over again. Fantastic.
