Another great book by Bernard Cornwell

I have to say I really enjoyed this book. Jonathan Keeble is by far one of the best narrators I have heard, and I'm nearing 200 audio books now. The book is a little slow to start while Bernard is building the characters. It has an interesting and different spin the the King Arthur and Lancelot tale. Well worth the listen.

Great book

Fills the gap between Vikings and game of thrones with English class, historically written, epic and blood thirsty. Great narration as always.

Gripping

I just couldn’t stop listening! Bernard Cornwell is an expert story teller. I can’t wait to start the second book in the series. The narrator does a great job too.

A long haul

I’ve wanted to read Bernard Cornwell for a while and just found this to be too hard going. It meanders without much point.

Brilliant

If you’re sad you’ve finished all the Uhtred Last Kingdom books, never fear, this will fill that void.

Almost gave up

Took me a while to get into this one & I admit I almost gave up.
However upon reading other reviews I found I was not alone. The first 5-6 hours are hard going but keep at it to be rewarded with a great read.

painfully slow start

don't get me wrong the book is extremely well written as you would expect.
but the introduction to characters really robbed the start of the book, to the point I wanted to give up on it

Fantastic

Story line was beautifully written and character development had depth and wit.

I’m excited for the next title in the series!
