Publisher's Summary

Darren heads to the Isle of Wight, where he gathers more undead and turns the beautiful Marcy. Howie and his remaining, much smaller team go to rescue the living who have escaped there, but Darren traps them in an abandoned hotel and sends his hordes in after them.

    Story
"Devolved from Campy fun to typical Male Fantasy"

    In a nutshell:

    1. Dave is a funny character

    2. Howie has a tantrum when "his people" dare to disagree with him.

    4. After a certain number of gory, slimy, zombie smiting battles; I don't really need the nasty details anymore. A summary is good enough. "Our heroes fought against enormous quantities of zombies and won again".

    5. Darren is whipped. Funny social commentary.

    6. Why do so many heroes in zombie stories end up with gorgeous, VERY young girls?
Actually, I think I know the answer, but I had thought better of this writer.

    7. Someone in this story actually got all warm and fuzzy while wishing he'd had an "alpha male" in his life while growing up.

    8. Great narration.

    9. I won't be listening to anymore of the adventures of Mr. Howie and Dave.

    10. Bummer! This series had potential.

"Another brilliant episode in the series!"

When i heard that this series was being continued via the authors Facebook page i couldn't wait for book 4 and was so pleased that audible have again given voice to RR Haywood's epic story. Dan Morgan gives another perfect performance and i couldn't be more excited to listen to the next part of the story! Thankyou Mr H!

"From a zombie's point of view"

This book was definitely better than the third. Listening from a zombie's perspective really added to this book and was a twist I've heard in no other zombie book I've read/listened to up to this point. I actually looked forward to Smithy's chapters more than any others.
The narrator could be better. Although he's good with articulating emotions, I could not tell one character from the other. He is very easy to listen to, however.

    "Can't get enough!"

Just an outstanding series. I'm not a massive fan of the genre but just as The Walking Dead, this more about the character interactions and development than actual Zombie life (tho that is certainly included and is developing rather than just the same old mindless (lol) drudgery of your average Zombie story).

I've never been so addicted to a series - I'm on my second round of 3 extra credit purchases as there is NO WAY I can wait the necessary 16 days for the next instalment! (I will no doubt finish part 5 in a day or so)
I often use audiobooks as a bit of gentle lulling to sleep but was up till 3.30 this morning listening before I finally could bear to not extend that sleep timer 1 more time.

Hands down the best audiobook I've ever had the privilege to listen to and I have listened to hundreds.

Superb work by author and narrator alike.

I've been listening to this series since it first came out and I just love it. The characters are relatable and endearing. The whole dynamic of the group is just great.
I love how the zombie infection seems to have an ever evolving state of being in this series and you can see that developed with each part of the story.

be forewarned that there is a little homophobic slurs, however a new character is introduced that does not like homophobic and other ethically distasteful slurs.

    Any additional comments?

I am so disappointed in Darren - he turned out to be such a wicked character. Could his arrogance be his undoing? Listen to this and see. This Part 4 introduces a new character, Marcy. Darren bites her and he may have bitten off more than he can chew. Also introduced is a character named Lani. She is sort of a female Dave. I like her. Haywood's best writing talent/skill, in my opinion, is his ability to create such great characters. They never have just one side - they have many layers. Sometimes they are good, sometimes not so good - sometimes brilliant and sometimes dumb. It is fun to see how they will react to situations. As usual, Dan Morgan brings them to life. It is amazing that he can successfully read female voices and male voices without my realizing that it is the same reader. Very talented reader. Good choice by Haywood. I am amazed that a publisher has not picked up this series. It is just too good to pass up. I have listened to or read all nineteen days and cannot wait until the next one comes out. Great job RR Haywood!!!

Worth a listen for sure. I mean it's a zombie story so it's full of blood and violence but hey if you're like me and you're into that stuff you'll like it! Check it out.

"The only reason i have an Audible account"

The only reason i have an Audible account is for Mr Haywood's books. Sorry Audible.

Pure escapism, with a fantastic story line. Just bought the physical book for my friend in Hollywood who works at Boneyard Effects, I don't feel im being biased by saying to her that this is just SO MUCH better than the Walking Dead. Even in Mr H;s apocalyptic world, he creates heroes and heroines that are good, kind and you would follow to the end. There are many moments in this installment were you find yourself smiling, mostly again provided by Cookey and Blowers, many breath holding moments, I loved the hotel bit! and we are introduced to two beautiful women (rolling my eyes Haywood, rolling my eyes lol) I even feel a little bit of sympathy for Darren. Dan Morgan is again doing a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life, Clarence and Ted in particular sound exactly like i imagined. Mr Haywood, as always begging for more.

really getting into Howie and the group now, wasnt sure about talking, calculating zombies at first but it makes a refreshing change to change the odds against the survivors who are used to killing nothing faster than a snail.

"A zombie book with a difference"

I thought this book was going to be like any other zombie book. I was wrong. It's not so much about the zombies killing mankind, it's more about the friendship, trust, amongst the survivors. I am now on to the fifth book in the series and quite honestly I love them all.

"Great Zombie story that keeps building"
What made the experience of listening to The Undead: Part 4 the most enjoyable?

The story is viewed from different perspectives which keeps it fresh, it has good characters which have had the background developed throughout the story and interact with each other.

What did you like best about this story?

I like how the plot keeps developing throughout the book with a lot of unexpected developments that help keep you guessing and reading. The people in the book are well thought about and developed. Its a really good zombie apocalypse and keeps you wanting to read on.

What does Dan Morgan bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Dan has a voice that you can listen to and distinguish each person from. He helps the book stay interesting by reading it well.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not so much an emotional reaction (the series and book are brilliant), but you can feel the plight of the characters and you do become emotionally invested in them.

    Any additional comments?

I simply love this series and will definitely miss them when I've finished reading them. well worth reading.
