The incredible conclusion to the record-breaking triple Hugo award-winning trilogy that began with the The Fifth Season.

The Moon will soon return. Whether this heralds the destruction of humankind or something worse will depend on two women.

Essun has inherited the phenomenal power of Alabaster Tenring. With it, she hopes to find her daughter Nassun and forge a world in which every outcast child can grow up safe.

For Nassun, her mother's mastery of the Obelisk Gate comes too late. She has seen the evil of the world, and accepted what her mother will not admit: that sometimes what is corrupt cannot be cleansed, only destroyed.

Brilliant Trilogy

Achingly brilliant post-apocalyptic sci fi fantasy. I am overawed by the depth and complexity of this trilogy. The destructive force of the planet matched only by the destructive force of prejudice directed at those who could actually save the planet.
If your young daughter has the magical ability to cause earthquakes how do you ensure that she controls and doesn't use that gift, because you are in hiding and the consequences of being found out are dire. In book 3 the fate of the planet pivots on the dysfunctional mother/daughter relationship created by this circumstance. The climax of this book more than equals the often harrowing journey. Flawed characters and the reason for their flaws. Listening to these books was a fabulous experience. Such warmth and depth and originality and heartache.
N.K. Jemisin you rock (no pun intended)! I predict you get the Hugo for this book - that's a well deserved 3 for 3.
Excellent narration by Robin Miles.

Perfect narration

Fantastic conclusion to a great series, though a bit slow and complicated in parts. Definitely worth pushing through those parts to get to the ending though. Satisfying.

Great trilogy. Awesome story. Voice performance variable

This trilogy was so cool
Voice performance confusing at times and had to repeat some sections to figure out who was talking. Variations in accents from each character.

Story had me hooked!

tricky, unnecessarily confusing for little payoff

Throughout the series their was unnecessary twists and turns that soaked up time, confused amd boree the listener, and took away from the core story.

Each book could have been a third shorter and better for it.

The best series I’ve read since Wheel of Time

This series was extraordinary! An incredible story that kept me hooked even through the chapters (and there were a few!) where I had no idea what was happening. I was just filled with the feeling that it would all be explained and I was desperate to be there when that happened. I was absolutely rewarded! The audiobook narrator is extraordinary and did a superb job.

I got through it but it was tough going at times

I found the story confusing and very slow. I had to rewind often to figure out what was happening. Book One was good, book 2 ok, but this book 3 wasn’t very satisfying.

Such a shame …

The first 2 books were good. This one was a chore to get through. It’s as if the author ran out of ideas. Very disappointing.
