Wallie Smith can feel the pain. He goes to the hospital, remembers the doctors and the commotion, but when he wakes up it all seems like a dream. However, if that was a dream how do you explain waking up in another body and in another world? Little Wallie finds himself in the physique of a barbarian swordsman, accompanied by both an eccentric priest babbling about the Goddess and a voluptuous slave girl. Wonderful start to fun adventure

Read this many many years ago and loved it...still have the hard copies on my shelf - just didn't recall all the details. on finding it in audible to chance to see if holds up to memory, and fingers crossed for story and narration. it largely has. Thoroughly enjoyed. While a tiny bit dated, that is mostly explained by context and the story itself. While a swordsman's adventure, it is so much more than that and quite sweet, which is all I can handle. nothing too dark or scary. While I do recall the ending, I am looking forward to reliving the adventures to get their, and Wally's personal journey. pretty well narrated too - nothing annoying, and mostly appropriate. doesn't differentiate between voices hugely, but still works well (I think because of the writing), even the female voices. pace is perfect, never board - just sitting back and enjoying. it is a mystery that unfolds.
