It's the 21st century, and global warming is here to stay, so forget the way your country used to look. And get used to the free market, too – the companies possess all the best hardware, and they're calling the shots now. In a world like this, a man open to any offers can make out just fine. Neal Stephenson is a blazing new force on the sci-fi scene. With the groundbreaking cyberpunk novel Snow Crash, he has "vaulted onto the literary stage." It weaves virtual reality, Sumerian myth, and just about everything in between with a cool, hip cybersensibility - in short, it is the gigathriller of the information age.

Story
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

Publisher's Summary
War rages on. All seems lost to this immense devastation. Across the galaxy, humanity's last hope may lie in wait. The Naked God is the epic, thrilling conclusion to the Night's Dawn trilogy, from Peter F. Hamilton.
The Confederation is verging on collapse, unable to prevent the enemy from sweeping through the galaxy. And Earth’s defences have finally been penetrated, its giant domed cities destroyed one by one. As time runs out for civilization, those who fight on must join forces and form new alliances – but an enemy’s enemy isn’t always a friend.
The war is desperate on all fronts, with battles fought on a scale unseen by humankind for six centuries. There are rumours that an ancient space-faring race faced this same threat to its existence – surviving with the help of the Sleeping God. If this mysterious and powerful entity truly exists, we may be able to find it. And if it really can avert the ultimate catastrophe, we may at last find hope.
Joshua Clavert and Syrinx now fly their starships on a mission to find the Sleeping God – which an alien race believes holds the key to finally overthrowing the possessed.
The Naked God is the final chapter of the trilogy which began with The Reality Dysfunction and The Neutronium Alchemist.

A coronavirus pandemic in space
I started listening to the trilogy in March, at the start of the COVID19 global pandemic. As I listened to it, I was shocked to realise that the actions taken to stop the Possessed in both 'The Neutronium Alchemist' and 'The Naked God' were so remarkably similar to what the world governments are doing.
The book is a good read the entire trilogy very entertaining. Hamilton brilliantly intersects several angles, mystic, horror, civilisations and geopolitics, space opera and the human mind under the optics of science.
It is a long book (like most from Hamilton) and some chapters are so density described that ended up being boring.

A Great Trilogy
A great and extensive trilogy, adequately read tho better could be expected... Character confusion made recognition difficult..
Persevere, it's worth it tho a "re-read" (130 hours) is going to be essential...

Long yet, Thoroughly entertaining
I had read the series 20 years ago and found it complicated but yet entertaining once listening to the first book of the series I was hooked to listen to the complete series and found All the parts of the story coming together better than reading the book probably due to my inability to comprehend the story.
Peters excellent writing skills betrays an excellent example of his scientific knowledge and imagination blended together.

What an end!
The saga draws to a close neatly tying up all the threads. The narrator has done a tremendous job in lending his voice to the characters. Wow, that was some journey
