From the world of The Godling Chronicles.
Filled with confidence and no small measure of arrogance, young Lee Starfinder, along with Millet Gristall, set off on their very first adventure. Lee quickly discovers that life beyond Hazrah can be far deadlier than he could have ever imagined. And soon he must learn that muscle and steel cannot replace loyalty, bravery, and friendship.

It was a great short story as a teaser into the actual series. The characters seemed interesting.
None come to mind, as I've not read/listened to anything similar as yet.
I liked the tone of his voice and the difference voices he used for the other characters. His tone for the female was also pretty good.
This teaser has me interested enough to now buy the actual Godling Chronicle series.

"held my interest "
held my interest and left me wanting more of this story but it does not seem to continue in the next book although Lee is in the next book it does not have the rest of his journey or his companion that I know of
I was pleasantly surprised to find that I enjoyed this book as well as the narration. I kept yelling at one of the main characters because he was acting like a childish peacock but by the end I liked him a little better.
Good, short, story.
It gripped me quickly and held on tight until the end. Can't wait for more
"good short read."
it was a good short read. nice to know back story on Lee starfinder. the book progresses at a really nice pace.
"Modesitt, Feist or Eddings"
These Godling novels kept coming out and I wondered. I had not heard of Brian D. Anderson and then I saw this free prequel. This is a great way to discover what you may or may not like. It didn't do it for me, but for you die hard fantasy fans it might. This could be compared to L.E. Modesitt Jr., Raymond Feist or David Eddings.
I want to continue to listen to the others. It had a great story line. I want to hear more.
"Thoroughly enjoyed this title."
This title was enough to lead into exploring more of the adventures of the main characters. Great short story. Thoroughly enjoyed this.
This was a great story. Look forward to more Lee Starfinder adventures. Easy to listen to and follow along.
i like the book although right when i was getting into it, it was over. overall it was a great short story in the series. i listened to it twice. the narrator was good too.
Though I'm not a huge fan of fantasy books, the narrator makes this story worthwhile.
"Good and free"
liked the chapter in the end from the first book more then this short story, but it's free so check it out
brilliant book it's now got me hooked on reading the rest of the chronicle's series
"Adventure into Madness"
An enjoyable escape from sanity. The story is of greed and how it can give and take. Also how standing firm about what you want, is always wise.
"Didn't Hear A Word"
I put the motion of the text on 3x so I couldn't hear a word
"Intriguing appetiser to what can become an epic"
Yes, I enjoyed the story and felt the description had me concocting the imagery of the scenes in my head.
I think all the characters were quite balanced. Each had a strength and a weakness and I couldn't really enjoy one more than another.
The arrogance of the Lee. The humble wisdom of Millet. The brutality of Jalil. He brought those characters out.
The confrontation and realisation of fate between Lee and the Blackness.
There were points in the plot that had me think whether it was likely to have happened or whether it was just a Ex Machina for the story. Also it was a slight dampener to have two separate stories of the of the short story and the prologue preview to have very similar scenes of old guardian failing to protect some artefact. I wonder if repetition is used more often in his other stories.
