Story
A vibrant and powerful epic set against an alternate Bronze Age, this tale of gods, men and monsters, conspiracy and war, is a rich, compelling and original tale from a master of the historical and fantasy genres. The people caught up in toils of the gods are merely trying to survive. Victims of vicious whims, trapped by their circumstances or pushed beyond what the mortal frame can bear, a handful of god-touched mortals—a scribe, a warlord, a dancer and a child - are about to be brought together in a conspiracy of their own.

For decades, the brothers of the Sixth Order have fought a savage war against the Lonak clans amid the frozen peaks of their dominion. When word reaches the North of a fresh outbreak of the dreaded Red Hand, Brother Sollis, the finest swordsman in the Order, leads a small band to a long-abandoned castle in search of a potential cure but discovers a far greater threat lurking in the mountains. Enemies become allies as Sollis leads an increasingly desperate fight against an inhuman enemy steeped in the power of the Dark.

The country is in revolt, the capital city is besieged and any victory will be hard won. But the Red Knight has a plan. The question is can he negotiate the political, magical, real and romantic battlefields at the same time - especially when intends to be victorious on them all?

The Red Knight continues to entertain...
Bring on the third book. Always absorbing from start to finish. Grim, gritty, entertaining and elaborate to enough to get lost in another world not so far from our own.

Another triumph for the red knight!
Some people may find the beginning of this book a tab bit slow to get rolling, but it's well worth the wait as the world of the series is fleshed out and some of the curtains are pulled back. The narrarator is fantastic as always and the author does combat and characterisation like no one else I've read. A fantastic listen.

The story continues
The story continues and it is perhaps not as good as the siege in the first book but it is still good, specifically because of the new characters introduced and achievements by the red knight and his company. Good narrator./writer combo! Sad this is the last in the series by this narrator!
