Story
It's the 21st century, and global warming is here to stay, so forget the way your country used to look. And get used to the free market, too – the companies possess all the best hardware, and they're calling the shots now. In a world like this, a man open to any offers can make out just fine. A man like Greg Mandel for instance, who's psi-boosted, wired into the latest sensory equipment, carrying state-of-the-art weaponry – and late of the English Army's Mindstar Battalion.

Story
Harry Bodie has a famous grandmother, who wrote beloved children's books set in the delightful world of Underhill. Harry himself is a failing kids' television presenter whose every attempt to advance his career ends in self-sabotage. His family history seems to be nothing but an impediment. An impediment . . . or worse. What if Underhill is real? What if it has been waiting decades for a promised child to visit? What if it isn't delightful at all? And what if its denizens have run out of patience and are taking matters into their own hands?

amazing story - inconsistant audio performace
I will always love the full arc of this story, but it was off-putting when you could tell that the voice actor went on a break and came back, it never sounded the same twice.

great ending to a wonderful series
this is the second series I have read after the Chronicle of the fallers. I especially loved the stories of Eduard interspersed within the series and would have just been content to have the entire story about him. amazing vision and compelling storylines weave together beautifully.

Beyond words...
Words cannot describe what this story meant to me, friendships love and amazing sci-fi. Some of the most impactful characters tied together in a well constructed vast story that spans the galaxy.
highly recommended.
