Welcome to the world of Nalzambor....

Nath is a special warrior. He is a man destined to be a dragon. In order to become a dragon, he must save the dragons.

For countless years Nath has been on a quest to become a dragon, but his meddling with the other races tends to get in the way. The way of men is not the way of Nath Dragon, his father has warned him. Yet Nath, unable to control his fascination with the world - men, elves, dwarves, and even the despised orcs - tends to get caught up in their affairs. To earn his scales, there is a high road he must follow.

With his close friend and ally, Brenwar the dwarf, Nath, armed with a magic sword he calls Fang, travels to the Mountain of Doom, the Free City of Narnum, and Orcen Hold, where nothing but trouble awaits. Will Nath Dragon, hero of the realm and protector of dragonkind, choose the right path or wind up on a dark one?

Narrated by industry legend Lee Allan, this 10-book audio edition includes tantalizing background music and special effects that fully enhance an already lively story filled with countless dragons and endless action. *Note: It is recommended that you sample this different medium of audio before purchase.*

Im not a fan of the added sound effects. Audio was a bit hard to hear in the first few books. But in all its not a bad story .

    "Entertaining book,"
What made the experience of listening to The Chronicles of Dragon Collection: Series 1 Omnibus, Books 1-10 the most enjoyable?

The story is good, and it moves along really well. At first its really non stop action, it almost feels forced. I guess the author was using battle type scenes as his tool for character development. About a 1/3 of the way through the book the characters split and start having different story lines. Nothing new there, but the switching back and forth happened to often for me. I understand why you switch scenes right before something is about to happen but it was literally every 3 to 4 minutes for a while, it was very distracting.

    Any additional comments?

This is a performance where there is lots of sound effects. It can be entertaining and add to the book, if done well. The sound effects where done well but when they where added into the recording during production the volume levels where not paid attention to. This over sight made the book really hard to listen to it would go from incredibly loud to barely being able to hear what someone is saying.

    "Childish but expected"

At first I thought I wouldn't like it. The story was a bit childish but I am a kid at heart. The story is predictable and sometimes silly. Characters are fun. The ten books together seemed long but we at least got to a respectable and expected ending.

    "A Dragon lover must!!"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Chronicles of Dragon Collection: Series 1 Omnibus, Books 1-10 to be better than the print version?

Equal, I love to read, however, I can share with my children this audio version.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Nath Dragon. He went through a lot of growing and being tested. He remained true and loyal which teach right from wrong. I like the roamer elves. Shum and Hoven. I liked all of the different types of dragons that they encountered.

Have you listened to any of Lee Alan’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. However, I like his voice.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

There is a lot of humor in the book which caused bursts of laughter. There are sad parts in the book which made me worry about the characters.

    Any additional comments?

I liked the fact that the content is appropriate for all ages and I was able to share with the readers in my family.

"50 Hours of Dragons! Loved it!"
What did you love best about The Chronicles of Dragon Collection: Series 1 Omnibus, Books 1-10?

I like that these stories are appropriate for all ages and my kids could listen, love and enjoy. Sounds effects a plus, but they far from dominate the routine narration. So many dragons, and the dwarven Morgon song was so cool and funny! Loved that touch!

What other book might you compare The Chronicles of Dragon Collection: Series 1 Omnibus, Books 1-10 to and why?

I never listened to any books like this before. Sounds effects and story telling like Prairie Home companion which I could identify with.

What about Lee Alan’s performance did you like?

Very strong and soothing who did well to manage such a large variety of voices. elves, gnolls, orcs, women, all pretty well done.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I could do it but it's impossible to stay up that long. 2 hours is pretty much my limited. Children maybe longer.

    Any additional comments?

Good clean story, lot's of action, dragons and fun! I recommend!

"Love Dragon stories! Glad for audio! Kudos"
Would you listen to The Chronicles of Dragon Collection: Series 1 Omnibus, Books 1-10 again? Why?

It's not going to be easy to swing another 50 hours in but I would if I could. The children for sure.

What other book might you compare The Chronicles of Dragon Collection: Series 1 Omnibus, Books 1-10 to and why?

This is the only series I've heard with sound effects. The sounds was fine, just enhanced certain parts of the story, but most of the book doesn't have any. Just action scenes, ending and beginnings. Loved all the different types of dragons and powers. That's what is awesome about these books!

What about Lee Alan’s performance did you like?

I liked Lee's voice. He's sounds like a master story teller. Sort of like a grandparent or father reading a group of kids a story. Very pleasant. Good job! Brenwar's the best voice.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

It's too long to do that. It's nice to look forward to on long commutes.

    Any additional comments?

I think it's a younger reader story like Narnia, but I enjoyed it. I nice change, no foul language or excessive violence like other stories these days. I was interested the entire way.

    "Not what I'd expected..."

...and a bit disappointed. The quality of the recording is, well, odd. There is the narrator speaking in your ear, and then the characters who sound like they are in a pillow case about 20 feet away. Just bizarre. And - judging on length of this book - I thought it would be an adult fantasy book... Perhaps in the Terry pratchet style, or Tolkien. But no. This seems to be aimed at the same crowd as the Twilight series, except I can't imagine a teen having the patience for a 50 hour book? Anyway it's not great, but it's OK. Get it with a credit, don't buy it.

What was most disappointing about Craig Halloran’s story?

    See below

Would you be willing to try another one of Lee Alan’s performances?

    Overly dramatic

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from The Chronicles of Dragon Collection: Series 1 Omnibus, Books 1-10?

I would have not added this to the audible library

    Any additional comments?

Well I lasted 20 minute of this book, and I'll explain why.

Picture the scene you are 8 years old and playing D&D for the 1st time, the DM starts to tell you a story and has a whole range of sound effect from bolts being shot from a crossbow, heavy breathing of main character running, to crickets chirping in the night, that’s how this book comes across, and all this in 20 mins of story starting.

If you are a serious fantasy reader/listener and love the depth and complexity that many authors are able to create with just words alone i.e. Brandon Sanderson and the Stormlight archives series – the near constant sound effects, and music in chronicles of the dragon will drive you nuts.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Too many sound effects and tried way too hard.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Dissapointment

    Any additional comments?

I seem to have fallen into the same trap as some of the previous reviewers. Saw a 50 hour book and assumed it would be for adult reading. Boy was I wrong from the first minute with the sound effects the wailing the panting as the character runs I was turned off. Half the enjoyment of reading or listening to a book is that you as the audience/reader create the story in your head with some imagination. This "audio book", and I use the term lightly because it is more of an audio play like they have on the radio, takes half the fun out of reading in my eyes.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would possibly recommend it to a child/parent as my kids (pre-teens) enjoyed it, personally I found it irritating with the idiotic sound effects and voices always in the background.
