This is the definition of crap sci-fi.

Got halfway through and gave up... too shallow and full of clumsy cliches. I was hopeful it would improve, given the fascinating topic of AI consciousness. Nope. it just got more like a cheap poorly written waste of time chapter after chapter. Maybe the other books in the series are a little more considerate of the audience.
