Samantha Martin is an imp, bound by an angel who allows her to live among the humans...as long as she follows his rules. It's never easy for an imp to follow the rules, especially now that Sam's brother, Dar, has found himself in hot water. He needs her help to retrieve an artifact from the vampires, or the powerful demon he owes a favor to will enslave and torture him for centuries. It should be a simple courier job, but with demons nothing is simple. Sam reluctantly attempts to help her brother, trying not antagonize the vampires or the demon gunning for him, all while chafing to comply with the restrictions her angel has placed on her as a bound demon.

I thought this book began a little wobbly and repetitive and I almost abandoned it. However, there is a storyline here that one wants to follow and the reader has an enjoyable style.
Once I was into the story I began to feel my interest rise. On to the next in the series.
Great book enjoyable, the story keep me in until the end I can't wait to start listening to the next book as I listen to my books as I clean the house, so thank you for making my house work enjoyable
"a good book that builds up the story"
yes I would. this book is a great continuation of the imp series the author has done a good job fleshing out the characters and the storyline is shaping up to be quite interesting I am interested to learn what new adventures our wayward demon gets into
I think these books so far are most similar to the October daye novels. a slightly ditsy heroin with more powerful friends and enemies who still manages to fumble through although toby is more intelligent who knows the series is still young.
she has a...idk smoky tone that helps convey a better mental picture plus I like hearing female lead books read by a female narrator. in the first book I thought she had trouble with the male voices but I was well pleased with how she did this book
it did keep my attention but as it was more of a fun book for me and not quite so life or death serious I did not feel a compelling need to keep listening...but I did still finish it in under 2 days so it was enjoyable.
i see that there are several more in this series out on paper back i am looking forward to when thy come to audible.
"That amoral, depraved demon we all know and love."
I find it strangely amusing.
When she was trying to understand the serial killer. And then when she is whining to wyatt that she is upset about the serial killer being stupid and not being able to dehydrate an ear properly.
OK. So in my review of the previous book I mentioned that ALL of the characters are completely amoral. Case in point - Wyatt, the boyfriend. Their relationship is a romance novel flipped on its head and soaked in acid.... instead of the night in shining armor rescuing the helpless female and then engage in steamy moments...you have the helpless human male being protected by the serial killer demon who at one point shares its deepest fantasy....along the lines of...I want to put you in a bathtub full of blood and strangle you with some entrails that I am gnawing on.... Instead of running screaming....he's like..can we use wine instead of blood....hot stuff...uh huh...any who.... He sees her in her demon form. She offers in all seriousness to kill a rival that he lost a video game tournament to. He knows that she kills people...and he is like...well babe I'm going to play video games and then you are done killing and torturing people we can go have some hot wings at the bar..... I kept thinking about women who are married to serial killers and people are like..how did you not know you were married to a monster.... and yet I like them all....crazy
This second book in the series is actually even better than the first. The lead character was funnier than ever, more hedonistic, yet you can't help but like her candor (even as some of her actions / thoughts repulse you!)
Can't wait for the next installment
The pace of narration was quite slow, but that was resolved by switching to 1.5x speed. However, Her narration is impeccable. She brings the characters to life such a way one wouldn't get from just reading the book. I reckon she's one of the best narrators I've come across yet.
this second book is as entertaining and humorous as the first. As with the first the odd placed gaps in the narrative were irritating, but the plot, the wit and the narrator's overall performance more than made up for the minor annoyance. I'm really enjoying this series.
"Funny and horrifying all at once.....I loved it."
As a professional driver this book made my drives fly by. Beware it has adult themes and detailed dismemberment. If you like you women chaotic good you'll love this book.
The humor and fast pace action.
she wasnt right for the part in my opinion she was too cute sounding
Burst out with loud laughter!
Think someone with a deeper voice would have been better
"great read, wonderful universe"
I really enjoy this series. I love the characters and the universe they populate. In true keeping with the genre, the narrating character speaks only for herself and what she observes. There is no unexplained omniscience or switching of points of views. I appreciate this as it helps keep me immersed. The reader doesn't know anything the character doesn't know. This increases the illusion of actually experiencing the events of the book with the main character rather than just reading about it. Great fun!
"Engaging FUN! Bought the whole set and I've been laughing my a$$ off for days. Fabulous narrator!!!"
Can't wait for the next book to come out. Lots of engaging characters to become invested in. Fantastic world creation, engrossing story lines. Have to read them in order though. Fun. Snark. Romance. Action. And a bit of comic gore to round things out. So much fun I'll be putting these in with my repeat listen collection with authors like Molly Harper. Allyson James. Patricia Briggs. Jim butcher. Julie Garwood. David weber. JD Nixon. Susan e Phillips. Hannah Howell. Tanya huff. keep up the good word work ms Dunbar. I look forward to you having a long and prosperous career career
"Again with this narrator!!"
This story is amazing and I'm slowly becoming a big fan. The characters especially Sam and Gregory <3 are really growing on me BUT this narrator is awful!!! She reads so slow and basically gives all the females the same voice and all the males one voice and wth is up with all the long pauses!!! That I guess isn't her fault and is more an editing issue sigh... But if you can somehow get thru that the story itself is great. I'd def recommend giving this book a try. Way better than the first so I hope the series continues in this direction.
It's an entertaining book and would like to have more interaction with the angel something more with Wyatt something different there but overall I enjoyed the book
"Excellent set of novels"
The story is great wit, humour and love all on a very dark scale.
Angela Rysk however spoils the funniest of moments with her long pauses. Her character voices are not diverse enough to fulfil the range needed. Even though I hate this and it really ticks me off I want to finish the series!
Hearing the characters helps create the images better.
Sam is AWESOME, she says it as it is and takes the consequences.
Just started on the Imp series will be listening to other books after this one as i like her writing style.
Its made me laugh and cry.
Truly a well written book, you really bond with the characters.
This series is quickly becoming my new favorite. The characters and plot are so unique and original, and the story is always engaging. There is never a dull moment, and Debra Dunbar has created such a fantastic world. Angela Rysk is the perfect narrator for these books and I can't wait to continue with this series!
The best series I have read this year. I hope audible publishes the rest of the series as they seem to have only the two books at the moment. The story and the wonderful narration bring a great combination together. Highly recommended.
"Good follow up book better than book 1"
The irreverent humour and quite an easy listening storyline - some great lines and a fairly happy plot in that you know whatever scrapes our Sam gets into she will somehow get out in one piece
When sam and Candy are our running and Sam tells Candy about the sexy experience she just had with Gregory
much better than in book 1 but still the delivery is a bit awkward and poor differentiation between the characters.
Angels and Demons - the love story
I like this series, it has an original idea and the humour is just the sort I like good easy listening on long drives or flights
