Demon Accords number 10. When a hunter is brutally mauled in northern Maine, it's presumed that a black bear is the killer. But an astute local deputy suspects a more supernatural element. His call for assistance is answered by the supernatural community sending one of their very best. If it takes a thief to catch a thief, who do you use to catch a werewolf? But nothing is ever simple in the preternatural world. There's more here than meets the eye... nose... ear... or fang.

This book was entertaining but no where near what the previous books were. It was basically a side mission done by the witch (Declan) and the hot ware (Stasia Renalds), but honestly I was a little disappointed. They just wasted time (in the form of lots of chapters), it didn't fit with the abilities of the team. Also the amount of information shared about their abilities to the authorities... Big red flag that annoyed me to no end. If it is a search and destroy then why waste your time going through a building like a swat team? The story did kind of worked through the major development of their relationship and an introduction to the AI known as Omega (the Quantum Computer). But really... This book feels more like it should have been book 9.5 not book 10 and was created to set the stage for next book like a really long epilogue. It was a good book and I think most people would find it entertaining, it was worth the price and I would still recommend it,
"This series needs to be a TV series"
I'm completely addicted to this series! I waited patiently for Rogues, and finished it in a day. Life can be so cruel. Awesome writing Conroe! And Cronin, your voice acting is on point! If there were 100 stars, I'd give it 1000! Obviously, I'm as good with math as Declan!
"OMG VS. WTF? Best ever!"
I must say I started this series based on ratings and comments but I have grown to love it the most. The characters are amazing and the storyline is out of this world. If you like action and adventure mixed with the supernat vibe this has everything. I bought every book in one day and almost could not sleep to get through it. Rogues is such an amazing addition it will leave you breathless and stunned. I don't want to give anything away because this is like one of the best books in the series but the next book has to come soon before I go crazy! The Warlock is my fave and I love Chris and Tanya. This series is written so well with amazing character development that the possibilities are endless with the direction this series can go. Must read, must have, you'll love this series.
"I was expecting more"
I'm a fan of this series, so I was really excited that another book was coming along so soon. In past books it seemed like there are always something going on to further develop characters and their interaction. Not so much in this book.
The discussions going on seemed really out of place for the situation. It seemed to me like a small novella that got stretched into a full novel, but should not have been.
"Best Series Ever?"
OK maybe not ever, but it is quickly becoming one of my all time favorites and it is one of my go to rereads when I need something to listen to and there is nothing interesting in my library. I am glad we see more of Declan and Stacia in this episode.
I am not going to go in to a plot summary, but this book is mostly outside on New York and Vermont locals of the prior books, so we see some new characters and get a deeper knowledge of what else os out there. We also get a good idea of Omega's all-knowing power - scary. I was sorry to see the Sorrow personality was gone, that was some of the most humorous stuff in DA8 and DA9. But overall another highly enjoyable installment.
Oh yeah and JPC- best narrator ever!!
"Stretched out novella"
Minor spoilers you should see coming anyway.
It's a good side story, but it should have been maybe half of the length. It spends far too long beating into the reader that Stacia and Deklan are going to be a couple.
I think every character who appeared for more than a page ends up having an in depth discussion with one of the two about how great the couple seem together. It gets old and slightly frustrating, but it was still a good addition to the series.
"Decent read and a great narrator.."
I could not read anything else by this author. This book has 448 pages and he used the word “said” 1241 times, according to my iPad. Really? No exclaimed or murmured or shouted or yelled or muttered or told or voiced or articulated or blustered, nothing but “said?” IMO that’s just a really lazy way to write. I like some kind of emotion when people talk, and “said” has no emotion whatsoever. And since all his books are mostly, if not all, more than 425 pages I can’t see myself reading thousands of “said.”
I did love the sassy and really sarcastic voice the narrator gave to Stacia/Lisa but that doesn’t make up for the fact this was 448 pages that went on and on and on. The battle that went on in the huge warehouse lasted through about 75 to 100 pages for sure. Whew, I didn’t think they were ever going to get out the other side.
I also liked the witch, Declan, who was very powerful at 19, and the huge werewolf, Stacia, and Buck, but I had to picture him different since the author gave him a “bushy beard” and I hate that. I liked Sheriff Grable, but hated Alder, as he was such an A-hole.
All the battles that went on were exciting but I was happy when they ended, so we could move on to something else.
I did love Omega, who came in late in the book but was still awesome. He was likable and scary at the same time.
Anyway, the story was okay but a little too long. There was swearing and the F-bomb was dropped 29 times. And there was not one iota of romance in this story.
As to the narrator: Fabulous! Every voice he did was completely different than the other. You always knew who was talking without the book telling you, and he read with passion and feelings. The voice he gave to Stacia was incredible, and oh so funny when she spoke. You couldn't ask for better narration. I had never heard James Patrick Cronin read before but I will definitely see what else he has to offer.
I'm really enjoying the series. this focuses on Sasha and Dekland pretty much exclusively. I like that ther is now two groups that the books follow, sometimes apart and sometimes separate. it makes it more of a surprise on which direction a new book will go.
"Great continuation of the Series."
I loved the story and flushing out of characters that have not had enough of their own voice. A great new direction for the story with new threats and plot twists to keep the series fresh in books to come.
"Another great addition to the series"
I will admit, I was very much looking forward to Chris doing some damage in another book. But Declan and Anastasia did not disappoint. John Conroe has an awesome way of being able to turn any character into a main character. I really enjoy this series and can't wait for the next installment.
If you like witchcraft, demons, vampires and werewolves then the Demon Accords is the series you've been waiting for !!!
"love this series- bring on snake eyes"
