The second volume of The Weird Works of Robert E. Howard, the legendary author best known as the creator of Conan the Cimmerian. Meticulously restored to their original magazine texts from the pulp magazine Weird Tales, this volume contains the short stories "The Black Stone", "Children of the Night", "The Dark Man", "The Footfalls Within", "Gods of Gal-Sagoth", "Horror from the Mound", "Kings of the Night", "The Last Day", "People of the Dark", "The Song of the Mad Minstrel", and "The Thing on the Roof".

"Not what it says on the tin."
I enjoyed the stories, even though Howards outdated racial attitudes are quite prominent, but the stories are always entertaining and well written and the Readers are all good.
Why the three stars? Well it's because the publisher's description is WRONG! I got this audiobook expecting to get "The Dark Man", "Gods of Gal-Sagoth", "Horror from the Mound", and "Kings of the Night", because that it what it says. Instead I got "The People of the Dark", a typical but entertaining Howard story, which also seems to be the first Conan story, before Howard settled on the Hyborian setting. The main character looks like Conan, is called Conan but he is an Irish Gael fighting Britons! You also get "Queen of the Black Coast", "Valley of the Worm", "The Haunter of the Ring" and the absolutely brilliant "Garden of Fear". What you DON'T get is "The Dark Man", "Gods of Gal-Sagoth", "Horror from the Mound", and "Kings of the Night".
