Publisher's Summary

Paizo Publishing is the award-winning publisher of fantasy role-playing games, accessories, and board games. Pathfinder Tales: Liar's Bargain is the latest in their popular novel series.

The sequel to Hugo Award Winner Tim Pratt's Liar's Island!

For charming con man Rodrick and his talking sword, Hrym, life is all about taking what you can and getting away clean. But when the pair are arrested in the crusader nation of Lastwall, Rodrick faces immediate execution, with Hrym spending the rest of eternity trapped in an enchanted scabbard. Their only hope lies in a secret government program in which captured career criminals are teamed up and sent on suicide missions too sensitive for ordinary soldiers.

Trapped between almost certain death and actual certain death, the two join forces with a team of rogues and scoundrels, ready to serve their yearlong tenure as best they can. Yet not everyone in their party is what they seem, and a death sentence may be only the start of the friends' problems.

    "Awesome story again!"

really like the writing style of Tim Pratt! He always makes the characters seem so much alive.
Steve West nails it again with an amazing reading. Really brings out the characters of Rodrick and the mighty Hym!

    "Suicide Squad"

This novel is Pathfinder's response to DC Comic's Suicide Squad. A band of villains with nothing in common is forced to serve a holy order.

"Steve West doesn't fit the bill"

I've tried Steve West across a variety of Pathfinder Tales Audiobook and he consistently jars my listening experience and can't seem to recover a fraction of the enjoyment I had listening to the previous readers for Pathfinders. Please stop letting Steve West read pathfinder books.

    "Disappointing"

Almost abandoned the book several times, but I never do, so I kept with it to the end. First half was terrible, the VERY contrived Suicide Squad set up required both Roderick and Hrym to suddenly become both stupid and incapable to the point of disbelief. Second half was better, but not by much. This book is much weaker than the two previous ones. Disappointed with the writing since the previous two outings were so much fun.
Steve West's narration still lack sufficient versatility to encompass a fair sized number of characters and his portrayal of Hrym just grates on my nerves.

    "Great story and voice actor"

Really enjoyed this one. The author and voice actor make an excellent combination with interesting characters and some funny dialogue especially between Hrynn and Roderick. More please!
