With nowhere left to run - where will you go?
Most of the world's population is either dead or dying from a virus that looks a lot like the one Bree and Nate tried to destroy - and not all of them remain dead. Chased by hordes of zombies, they flee the city with what remains of their merry band of miscreants. But even when most of them survive the first day, they are far from safe - because there is no safe place left. The fight for survival forces them to become resourceful, and soon they realize that the undead might not be their only problem. In this new world, it's each man or woman out for themselves - and just because someone has a pulse doesn't necessarily mean they make a good ally.
Yet there is hope - a bunker in Wyoming, outfitted with weapons and food, and above all else, defensible shelter for the winter. Can they survive the 2,000-mile trip across the country with nothing but the clothes on their back and what they can scavenge along the way? This is not the kind of challenge that Bree ever imagined she would have to face, but she's determined to survive - even if that means to learn how to on the job.

The narration of this audio book is adequately done but the storyline is garbage. Book two in this series happens just after the start of the outbreak. The characters seem one-dimensional and contradict themselves at times. The main character is insecure and everything she does seems to be about pining for attention. I just did not like anything about this despite having high hopes after book one. I will not be continuing to book three.
Great story, great narrator, stands near the top of the huge mountain of zombie storys
"great read better in audible"
Oh yes. Fun zombie apocalypse book.
Hard to pick.
Zombie apocalypse at its finest
Love the whole series.
Can not wait for the third book! The narrator was great and I would definitely recommend this book as well as the first one in the series.
"Too much complaining"
Good premise but the main character just complained constantly, endlessly. Come on its the apocalypse! Give the "I'm a woman I have a right to bitch" a rest and bring on the zombies...
Riveting, captivating and down right astounding. Incubation was a great book and drew me in with it's well written story. As with Incubation, Outbreak completely clutched me from start to finish. Once again, Tess Irondale brings the characters she portrays to life, giving you the sensation you are there with them. A phenom of a book.
"It's a zombie book"
Started out as a 'science' zombie book. But sugar? Too generic - without a thought of manufacturing and distribution dates, and the character arcs are to quick, didn't feel the struggle. But... I am still listening and just ordered book 3.
"worth a listen"
really wish the relationship stuff would have been left out of the story kinda took away from the story
"less about zombies, mostly her feelings of them"
I liked it, but it wasn't what I thought it would be, it's mostly about the feelings of one women. every once in a while they meet a zombie.
Really enjoyed this book and looking forward to getting next book in the series. The voice overs are great and help to distinguish the characters.
If like this genre you will love this just had so many late nights because I could not stop listening.
a break from the usual zom apoc story in that it's from a womans perspective and she doesn't mess around with the moral dillema too much to make me want to beat the writer with a nail studded plank (im not mentioning any names, you know who you are). this was far better and the pace was perfect for the character. ever so slightly rushed towards the last chapter but it had no impact on the story. keep 'em coming
