All it takes is a single brush with the supernatural to change a life forever.
Some choose the path of magic and shadow willingly. Others never see the hand of magic as it shapes their fortunes. They face the extraordinary with nothing but courage and wits to guide them.
Some mortals become trapped in the conflict between angels and demons and find themselves forever changed. For all too many, the shadows lead only to untimely ends. For some, however, the shadows offer seductive experiences that draw the newcomers further in....
Life in Shadows collects four stories set in the world of Good Intentions, where one encounter with sorcerers, demons, or a foul-mouthed servant of heaven is all it takes to turn the world upside down.
Warning: Life in Shadows contains explicit violence, extended explicit sex scenes, explicit karaoke, profanity, rampant nudity, assault, murder, breaking and entering, belligerent urban wildlife, premeditated sexual promiscuity, vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, attempted kidnapping, attempted robbery, attempted ritual demonic possession, blatant violation of state regulations of adult entertainment, punching, kicking, cutting, stabbing, shooting, hair pulling, name calling, slut shaming, cheap Halloween costumes, strippers, hipsters, poseurs, police, personal calls while on duty, arson, destruction of private property, lingerie, war criminals, break-up text messaging, lesbian demon seduction, accusations of Mary Suedom, poor workplace morale, premarital sex, nude calisthenics, immolation, false identification, ruthless exploitation of personal beauty, unsafe crowd control standards, vertigo, destruction of evidence, elitism, racism (don't worry, he dies), open relationships, workplace scapegoating, adult use of plumbing implements, fantasy depictions of witchcraft and paganism, at least one reincarnated ancient European warlord, and a girl-on-girl grenade fight. All characters are over the age of 18 except the aforementioned reincarnation of an ancient European warlord. That gets sketchy.

"Tess made this one."
Not as good as the others but worth the read.
A new character and development of some others.
Another great performance by Tess Irondale. She really knows how to bring a story to life. This is a nice little interlude for the characters from good intentions and I hope to see more of the new characters in the next book. I really enjoyed the parts with Kevin an Shannon. I hope Kevin finds out about everything that's going on around him.
Highly recommend this audio/book to anyone who has read the good intentions series.
"Basically Softcore Porn with very little plot"
I feel like I wasted a credit getting this title. I don't mind explicit material but the majority of this book was a collection of sex scenarios with very little in the way of plot.
"Tid Bits of Awesome!"
The only thing I wish they had done with the audio version would be to have established the chronology within the series timeline (which is at the front of the kindle version).
The novellas overall were fantastic, each progressively better as the stories rolled on. I do hope "Uncle Kevin" turns into a bigger player on the series as it goes on. with all the foreshadowing and lead-ins I can only see this story getting more and more epic.
"Wish it could have been longer."
I tend to read books without reading to much about them first, so this time I was a little confused. I thought this book was going to be about the two witches and the book of shadows, and honesty I was looking forward to it. So I was somewhat disappointed when the story seemed to jump around to other characters and never went back to their story. It was good for me, not great like the other books in the series.
"Great Expanded Universe"
Tess Irondale, her performance was great as always
I enjoyed all of the primary characters they each have something special
Everything, her range is great and she is able to give each character their own voice
Yes and no, because it is a selection of short stories it is easy to put down at the end of each chapter.
one minor issue Tess Irondale seems to have switched voices for Molly and Onyx. In the previous books Onyx had the more soothing seductive voice and Molly had a bit rougher voices in this book they seem to have switched. With that minor thing said it was a great addition to the universe I hope Mr. Kay will write additional books for these characters in the future.
"Basically three short stories...tied into one book"
If you're a fan of the series, yes. If you've not read the rest of the series, go there first
Introduction of new character(s)
Tess is just awesome. Great ability to tell characters apart, but smexy when needs to with each
Felt a bit shorted by this one, since it took a credit to listen where each of the others in the series were a) also only one credit, and b) much better stories. I'm fairly sure the characters in this book will be instrumental in upcoming books, but hopefully the writer goes back to the previous length and complexity. They're good, but not "5 stars for one credit" good at this length.
"Read the other two books 1st"
I like the book, but for anyone considering this one. I suggest you read the other two books 1st, or you may be lost in the characters and what's going on.
"i liked the 1st 2 and i liked this one."
i see a lot of reviews saying this book felt like short stories and didn't move the Alex story along. There is a reason for that. This is the 3rd book in the same universe but it is not book 3 series. It clearly says this book is just some short stories to fill in some gaps and a bit of backstory. I enjoyed it, i recommend it and if you liked the other 2 books you will probably like this one as well.
"Nice additions to the world"
This is a nice collection of short stories, featuring among other things, more background on Molly and Onyx, a story with Molly's cop uncle, and a couple of really good reasons to avoid the VIP lounge...
The performance is good, but the reader accidentally swapped the voices of Molly and Onyx, which makes the first story particularly jarring. The rest are as good as the other books in the series she's read,
