All it takes is a single brush with the supernatural to change a life forever.
Some choose the path of magic and shadow willingly. Others never see the hand of magic as it shapes their fortunes. They face the extraordinary with nothing but courage and wits to guide them.
Some mortals become trapped in the conflict between angels and demons and find themselves forever changed. For all too many, the shadows lead only to untimely ends. For some, however, the shadows offer seductive experiences that draw the newcomers further in....
Life in Shadows collects four stories set in the world of Good Intentions, where one encounter with sorcerers, demons, or a foul-mouthed servant of heaven is all it takes to turn the world upside down.
Warning: Life in Shadows contains explicit violence, extended explicit sex scenes, explicit karaoke, profanity, rampant nudity, assault, murder, breaking and entering, belligerent urban wildlife, premeditated sexual promiscuity, vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, attempted kidnapping, attempted robbery, attempted ritual demonic possession, blatant violation of state regulations of adult entertainment, punching, kicking, cutting, stabbing, shooting, hair pulling, name calling, slut shaming, cheap Halloween costumes, strippers, hipsters, poseurs, police, personal calls while on duty, arson, destruction of private property, lingerie, war criminals, break-up text messaging, lesbian demon seduction, accusations of Mary Suedom, poor workplace morale, premarital sex, nude calisthenics, immolation, false identification, ruthless exploitation of personal beauty, unsafe crowd control standards, vertigo, destruction of evidence, elitism, racism (don't worry, he dies), open relationships, workplace scapegoating, adult use of plumbing implements, fantasy depictions of witchcraft and paganism, at least one reincarnated ancient European warlord, and a girl-on-girl grenade fight. All characters are over the age of 18 except the aforementioned reincarnation of an ancient European warlord. That gets sketchy.

"Absolute train wreck. Don't waste your money. "
The first 2 books in this series were fantastic. This book was dreadful. In audio format, the director should be shot. In read format the editor should be shot.
I pray book 4 is better, but I'll be waiting for the reviews first before I waste money on this series again.
"Tess made this one."
Not as good as the others but worth the read.
A new character and development of some others.
"Different From Others"
Onyx and Molly's voices and personalities were switched from the other books. The whole book seemed like short stories from before and after the other two as well.
"Wish it could have been longer."
I tend to read books without reading to much about them first, so this time I was a little confused. I thought this book was going to be about the two witches and the book of shadows, and honesty I was looking forward to it. So I was somewhat disappointed when the story seemed to jump around to other characters and never went back to their story. It was good for me, not great like the other books in the series.
"Great Expanded Universe"
Tess Irondale, her performance was great as always
I enjoyed all of the primary characters they each have something special
Everything, her range is great and she is able to give each character their own voice
Yes and no, because it is a selection of short stories it is easy to put down at the end of each chapter.
one minor issue Tess Irondale seems to have switched voices for Molly and Onyx. In the previous books Onyx had the more soothing seductive voice and Molly had a bit rougher voices in this book they seem to have switched. With that minor thing said it was a great addition to the universe I hope Mr. Kay will write additional books for these characters in the future.
"Nice additions to the world"
This is a nice collection of short stories, featuring among other things, more background on Molly and Onyx, a story with Molly's cop uncle, and a couple of really good reasons to avoid the VIP lounge...
The performance is good, but the reader accidentally swapped the voices of Molly and Onyx, which makes the first story particularly jarring. The rest are as good as the other books in the series she's read,
"Unlike other books in series"
While the book is enjoyable, the story feels more like several somewhat related and very loosely coupled short stories. There are unfinished plot lines. Which is fine in a series but the book jumps around so much that, immediately after finishing, I was left saying to myself "I really have no idea was that book about?" The other books were more complete and more enjoyable. Regardless it is worth the read, if only to keep-to-date in the series. I liked the first two books. While I didn't enjoy this book as much, I certainly still look forward to the next books in the series.
Really what's with the new character? Only giving her one chapter. I thought the book was going to be about her when it started out. come on Elliott you could have at least let Alex meet her. better luck next time.
"Awesome! Can I get a full length sequal please!"
Again, I find myself saying "More Please!" to an Elliot Kay book. The stories were great. "Skin" was by far my favorite. I cannot wait for a full length sequel to Natural Consequences. Please Please Please give me my full length Lorelei and Rachel sexy supernatural story!
"Excellent way to expand on the main story!"
Gave good insight into the characters outside of the main story line.
This is a series of short stories, as anyone who follows the author would know. Made for a great fill in before the next book!
