Witness an untold chapter in Halo lore as John Shirley's Halo: Broken Circle takes us to the dawn of the Covenant and the fateful first bargain between the Prophets and the Elites. Broken Circle will explore an Elite splinter group rebelling against the Covenant in its earliest days, a brave Prophet caught in the machinations of the new Covenant leadership, and the root of the betrayal that would ultimately shatter the Covenant during events seen in the blockbuster Xbox video game Halo 2.

I love the portrayal of good and bad from both sides. I also enjoy the fact that humanity is mentioned only briefly. Great listening.
The book really took me deeper into the halo covenant side and the narrator did a great job in doing so.
"wort wort wort"
wort wort wort wort wort wort wort wort wort wort wort wort wort wort wort By the blood of our fathers...
"Scott Brick = Terrible Casting Choice"
Shifting the focus of the story to a more comprehensive history of the Covenant with less emphasis on the Elites on the Shield World.
Scott Brick could have put more work into giving each character a distinct voice and putting more energy into dramatic scenes. He made each character sound the same and thus made the dialogue hard to follow at many points. He also lacked the ability to give dramatic sequences tension. He basically read the book in one sitting without putting any effort into making the reading engaging to the listener.
The narrator bored me to the point where it was a chore to finish the book.
Narration is important in audio. When you hire a narrator, he needs to have a large range and the ability to sound like more than one person. If I didn't know who Scott Brick was, I would have thought that this was his first audiobook.
"Best Halo book since The Fall of Reach"
This is an absolutely must read for any Halo enthusiast, I loved every moment of this book. It tells an amazing story from the perspective of the Covenant and gives you a true understanding of their culture and how they came to be.
I'm a big fan of stories that span over a long periods of time. This story does a fantastic job of giving you an understanding of time and the impact it has on civilizations.
The narrator was absolutely incredible! He does amazing job with the voices of characters. His narration of the Sanshayum and even the Sanghelli could not of been a more perfect and just absorbs you into the story even more.
I hope he continues to he the narrator on all Halo titles going forward.
It was freaking phenomenal, I'll recommend this book to a lot of people. I especially liked the delivery by Scott Brick, he may now be one of my favorites.
"Great Story! Great performance!"
I really enjoyed this book. I didn't want to stop listening and even though im not usually a fan of the covenant story line it was actually very good. Would recommend to any Halo fan!
"My favorite halo novel so far!"
I do not want to reveal anything except to express that if you are a fan of the elites and want to learn about one of their finest leaders who actually had the courage to resist the Covenant from the very beginning then read this book and truly enjoy it. it even fills in a lot of gaps for the great schism and even gives a glimpse at what the Covenant Elite counselors had to go through during the mass genocide against them. this was the best Halo book I've read so far but maybe that's due to my favoritism of the elites. regardless of whether that's a fact or not I trust that you'll enjoy this book as I did. thank you to the author the narrator those who created the music and everyone else in between!
"unlike the rest"
Feels sluggish and drawn out. it's a story of the past in the Era of the covenant at its start. there are alot of lovie-dovie kind of things that would and don't fit... it's not the Halo books you know or love.
loved it great piece of the halo story. adds tons of context on the second rebellion of the elites against the covenant.
"The book to teach you about the covenant"
Broken Circle has an excellent story which only falters 3/4 of the way through due to a complete narrative change which i felt confusing as i struggled to learn multiple new characters. It was not that the second half was not enjoyable as I love the prophet of clarity but there was much more depth and time given to his ancestor the prophet of inner conviction. This story shows how the covenant come to be and tells it in a realistic way which shows how the covenant become the world destroyers you see in the main line halo games. Warning to those who want a book about humans, this is not for you, its purely focussed on the covenant and the sangheli. This book is worth a read as it gives greater depth for all lore fans of halo.
"A bit dis jointed but a good story"
Could have been better, no mention of arbiter honor from the war before the writ of union. But a good tale anyway.
"Great read if your are into the halo universe!"
The Sanghelli are one of my favourite races in the Halo Universe! A good read for their lore. The reader on his is very nice to listen too!
