Mai 2037: Perry Rhodan und seine Gefährten sind auf einer gefahrvollen Reise nach Arkon, dem Zentrum eines riesigen Sternenreiches. Sie wollen den rachsüchtigen Regenten des Arkon-Imperiums stoppen, der in seinem Zorn die Erde vernichten lassen will. Noch ist die Position der Erde unbekannt und Rhodan möchte, dass es so bleibt. Auf dem Weg dahin erreichen die Gefährten das Sonnenleuchtfeuer am Rand der Milchstraße. Von dort aus müssen sie den großen Sprung zum Kugelsternhaufen M 13 antreten - in dessen Zentrum befindet sich Arkon. Aus bislang unbekannten Gründen erreicht der Regent zur selben Zeit ebenfalls das Sonnenleuchtfeuer.
Rhodan erkennt die einmalige Chance, der Bedrohung direkt zu begegnen. Er fasst einen aberwitzigen Plan: die Entführung des mächtigsten Mannes der Galaxis...
