"Nice parallel storyline to Critical Failures"
This book ranks pretty high as it is a creative addition to the rest of the series. It has a number of the short stories that "fill in the blanks" on the main characters and what makes them tick.
Cooper, because a low charisma score has never been so "charming":
He made each of the character voices distinctive and was creative in combining them for funny effects.
Please keep the stories coming, you still have a ton of content to get through, but the whole series (Critical Failures plus nd6 short stories) adds up to something epic.
"Keep the Series Coming!"
I'm thankful Audible added the follow-up to Critical Failures. I'm skeptical if a reader could enjoy this book to the full extent without having read Critical Failures; however, I am unable to judge since I've listened to Critical Failures at least five times. I love the humor and the interplay between the characters.
As another reviewer mentions, I often skip short-story collections; however, this book is different because in Dungeons and Dragons, and the massive multiplayer online role-playing games that I've played, the experience IS a bunch of different encounters. Of course, I would love another book just like Critical Failures, but I will definitely take what I can get.
Now, do not listen to this book if you do not find enjoyment in base humor about what somebody did with another's mother last night and the like. The language would be offensive to some. If your sense of humor and adventure is similar to my own, please read Critical Failures first. You are privileged that you do not have to wait and see if the next book in the series makes it to audible form, as it is here! (Although, you will have to wait and see if the next book makes it to sound.)
Kudos to the narrator! His delivery enhances the humor.
"Worth the wait."
I have been waiting for this release for a couple of months. The quality of Robert Bevan's humor for nerds was well worth the wait. Great job by Johnathan Sleep again as well. Thanks for the laughs Mr. Bevan.
"A Laugh Riot"
This was very reminiscent of my days playing D&D. By that I mean it was packed full of dick jokes and toilet humor, both of which I enjoyed immensely. I listened to most of it at work so I spent a good deal of this book laughing not so silently to myself avoiding the glances of my coworkers. Basically, if you've ever played D&D you should give this book a chance, unless of course you aren't into crude humor... in which case I am now surprised that you've ever played D&D.
"Awesome as usual"
I love every story I read about Tim, Dave, Cooper, Julian and Ravenous! These short stories are so much fun to listen to on audible. You can listen to them in any order and they're fun to repeat. I still laugh just as much even when I'm listening for the second time.
"Hysterical - sarcasm and potty humor"
This is a collection of short stories from the Caverns and Creatures universe. They are companion pieces to the main books in the series Critical Failures 1, 2 and 3. The short stories are not meant to be worked into the main storyline of the Critical Failure books. In d6, the main characters get go on some fun adventures or misadventures, I should say. In this way, d6 is a great way to get your feet wet in Caverns and Creatures and see how you like it. The premise is a bunch of casual gamers (think D&D) are transformed into their characters and enter the C&C universe for real. As you can imagine, calamity and hilarity ensues. This is no epic Tolkien-esqe adventure. This is a bunch of bumbling losers doing their best to be adventurous and not die. I don't think you have to be a gamer to like this book, but some of the jokes will be funnier if you 'get it'. Also, iIf you don't like poop jokes, then this is not for you. Walk away. Seriously.
The narrator is outstanding. Anyone that can narrate a half orc, dwarf, and halfling and make them all sound distinct but not cheesy is pretty awesome in my book.
"Love this series"
Exactly what audible needs for me to pour my dollars into my phone week after week. Finish posting all the books in the series and I'll buy them one after another, an awesome D&D read.
"MORE! MORE! MORE!"
love this series you guy nailed it again and need to do this hole series !!!!!!!
If you've ever played pen and paper rpg's, this is a series that will keep you rolling with laughter!
"Another natural 20!"
This is quickly becoming my new favorite series, I can't wait for more to come out.
"good but one minor gripe"
again with these stories the pause between chapters is slightly too long, it kinda brings you out of the stories
"I'm running out of books!"
The only thing wrong with these books is the isn't enough of them :( Another super book, mini stories this time. Fantastic!
"please get the 4th book on audible asap"
more more more please it so funny
takes me back to when we used to play AD&D sunday nights round at Jasons
the delivery is excellent
"Glad my friend recommended this to me."
Having played D&D before and understanding some of the game's rules, general gameplay and players interactions with each other and the DM, liked the way I suddenly realised what was happening almost at the same time the characters did.
To be honest I can't think or remember of any other book that has the same premise as this has. I would compare it to the film Tron, or something similar.
The range of his voice from a whiny halfling to a big dumb half Orc.
There is total immersion and there is Total Immersion.
Loved this book and have become a big fan of the author, so much so that I bought everything he has written in this series and the following short stories.
