"A fun little freebie from the author / publisher"
A short story set at Dorian's home. Ashaya is baking Christmas goodies with Keenan and Dorian when visitors come calling. Holiday merriment ensues. No real plot and nothing very meaningful is said, but nonetheless the camaraderie is delightful, as always.
Thank you for the gift!
(Admittedly, I opened it long before Christmas.)
"A peek inside Dorian/ Ashaya house."
A nice 20 minute teaser to get me in the mood for more from the Psy-Changling world that is coming out next week. Thanks audible for the freebie.
"Heartwarming Holiday Vignette"
A fun follow-up vignette with Dorian, Keenan, and Ashayla enjoying family time in their kitchen baking for Christmas with visits from others in the pack. It was a sweet and fun family moment in the midst of all the excitement in the psy-changling world.
This one fits in right after Blaze of Memory.
I experienced it in audio format (the audio is free) and I enjoyed Angela Dawe's narration work doing all the voices and keeping the whimsical tone of the story.
"fun slice of life incident"
Nalini Singh gifts her series readers with these fun little slice of life incidents. Read the story in newsletter and/or on Singh web site and enjoyed hearing audio.
Interesting to see characters in everyday situations away from the stresses of intrigues and battles. Helps give more depth to the characters and the worlds they live in whether it be Psy-Changeling world or world of the Guild Hunter and her Archangel. Reminder that everyday life goes on. Cooking, cleaning, going to the grocery store, etc. are fun to read about in these short gifts and help connect the characters between novels.
What did I just listen to? Why would anyone take the time to write something like this? This is utter nonsense.
"What a Great Taste of Christmas (and a new author)"
Short stories are great ways to meet new authors. Like online dating, you meet for coffee to see if they're a good choice. While paranormals aren't my go-to genre, a good story is a good story. Listening to this short Christmas tale brought me into a new world and presented me with new friends. I look forward to reading more by Nalini Singh.
"Not the best"
It is a good story however the reader did not make the story enjoyable. She was reading too quickly. She didn't add character to the story, she detracted from the story.
I appreciate the slice of life shorts. I'm never ready for the books to end.
I lost parts of the story due to the narrator's clipped style and fast pace. Her character acting was smooth and normal and pleasant, with great individual voices. The dialog is easy to recall. The story in between felt way too long because the tone seemed harsh and strident to my ears. But that's just my personal taste.
Having enjoyed other stories by Singh, perhaps I'll look for this little piece in print. The story was a perfect bite size of holiday cheer to fit into the scurry of the season.
"Heartwarming peek at 'everyday life'."
4.5/5; 4 stars; A
Really just a vignette....like looking in the window and watching some friends and family have a moment of everyday life. Sweet.
I enjoy seeing glimpses of 'normal' for the characters in this series.
The audiobook was a free snippet, only about 20 minutes long. Fun.
The story's alright - not fantastic, not terrible - but the narration is truly awful. I had to turn the volume up to be able to hear the dialogue which is recorded at much loerr level than the almost shouty main narration. The narrator rrads too fsst and her intonation feels rrally unnatural. Ruined the story for me
"Lots of characters"
First Psi book I've heard although I have read them all non have been available in the UK on Audible. I loved it although only a short book and free (thank you) this was an excellent book to start with. The narrator was fabulous so many different voices as it was filled with so many of the characters and she was great really brought the story to life. I would buy the entire series if it was available.
